The name says it all. This festival quite literally-- is a barn burner. The event will last all day and night featuring 14 bands, two stages, food and vending, a haunted campground, costume contest, and activities for kids and adults, culminating at midnight with an actual BARN Burning!
Event organizer and participating musician "Tennessee" Jed Fisher promises, "We are going to be hosting a regional mix of bluegrass, rock, jazz, and jam bands at this festival. People from the Triangle area and all over are coming together to make our Barn Burner the place to be on Halloween." Performers include: Tennessee Jed and Friends (Asheville), The New Familiars (Charlotte), Mountain Still feat. current winner of the Mountain Stage International Songwriters Contest, David Via, and Roger Padgett (Shelby), Boss Hawg feat. Mark Schimick and Jon-Jon Davis (Boone), Jon Stickley and Friends (Chapel Hill), Vertigo Jazz Project (Asheville), The Firehouse Rhythm Kings (Chapel Hill), Yesterday's Gravy (Greensboro), Big Daddy Love (Winston-Salem), Hammer No More the Fingers (Chapel Hill), Matt Williams and the Ocean (Asheville), Mixed Greenz (Chapel Hill), Wax Planet (Raleigh), and Whiskey Kills the Butterflies (Raleigh). Music will last from 10:30am until early the next morning, and will include a late night all-star jam.
Tennessee Jed's First Annual Barn Burner Festival will be held on the 20 acre Possum Holler property located at 190 Sycamore Trail in Prospect Hill, NC 27314, Saturday October 31st. Ticket prices start at $25/person in advance, $30/person at the gate, plus a $10/car camping fee. Firefighters and their families get in for $20 each. Children under 12 years get in free. Not only is the festival celebrating Halloween by burning down a barn, but it will also double as the CD release party for Tennessee Jed's sophomore album, Barn Burner, featuring seven time IBMA banjo player of the year, Jim Mills of Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder, as well as over 30 high profile guests from the NC music scene and beyond. Like the content of the festival itself, Tennessee Jed's Americana/rock blend represents a crossroad where tradition and innovation shake hands, and drums are, in fact, a bluegrass instrument!
