As many fans have probably heard by now, there have been some changes within the band, who recently announced the departure of drummer Albert Suttle, affectionately nicknamed Albro Llama. You can catch Albro's last shows with the band for NYE at the Georgia Theater in Athens, GA.

While Nashville was in the midst of the 2021 Americana Music Festival and conference, this past week, in The Piedmont of North Carolina we were treated to a visit from Son Volt, a band born like a phoenix from the ashes and dust of the band Uncle Tupelo, the great pioneers of the Americana genre.
Opening the show was a local North Carolina artist, Florence Dore, of Chapel Hill, who told the crowd that she had just started writing songs again after a 16 year hiatus.

FloydFest made its triumphant return to the green rolling hills of southwest Virginia's Blue Ridge Mountains for a 5-day odyssey through a vast universe of sounds spread across 9 stages. It's truly Disneyland for music lovers. An electric vibe connected the performers to the audience in the shared joy of reemergence from solitude, with a full moon and rainbow illuminating the magical mountains with a mystical sheen.

It's been a while since Todd Snider brought the joy to Raleigh's Lincoln Theatre, 896 days to be exact, since that last show in March 2019, back when things were a bit less complicated. Of course he had planned to play here in May of last year, but you know, stuff happens, and we were instead blessed to have had Todd in our homes many Sundays during that period with his What It Is and The Get Together(s) live-streamed from The Purple Building in East Nashville.

Greensky Bluegrass brought Beech Mountain's "Summer Concert Series" to a close on Saturday, August 21st with a socially distanced, rousing show. Both the Midwest quintet and large crowd were in good spirits on a beautiful, moon-lit evening in the high country.
The band opened the first of two sets with "Past My Prime" and followed with several more originals before covering Bill Monroe's "Wheel Hoss", Dire Straits "Money For Nothing". The set culminated with the well-executed "Kerosene".

Tedeschi Trucks delivered right away with a powerful version of "Anyhow." Feeding off the positive feedback from the crowd, Derek Trucks is cool and calm. His talent outshines most other guitarists who seemingly can't penetrate the soul of the audience with his wailing riffs and deeply driven solos as he does so effortlessly. He often delivers the kind of moment when you "feel" the guitar before you hear it. During the delivery of "Do I Look Worried," Susan's (Tedeschi) voice was elevated to angelic perfection in total harmony with Derek's smooth slide.

Last night at Red Rocks was pure joy. It's only night one of the two night gig, and it definitely did not disappoint. Don Carlos was such a treat to see, a legend if you will. Seeing Don Carlos was on my bucket list and there is no better place to see him than Red Rocks Amphitheater in Colorado. Common Kings is so much fun to watch, such great stage presence, and the enthusiasm that they have really resinates with the crowd. Pepper, now if you have never seen them play, you need to stop everything you're doing, just put everything down.

It was the ninth stop of the Summer Umphrey's McGee tour, and the venue couldn't have been better. At just under 5,000 ft above sea level, it was truly an amazing sight. In the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Beach Mountain sits majestic and awe inspiring. The popular winter destination has now turned itself into an acclaimed summer musical venues in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains. While Beech Mountain is high enough to almost never be hot, Umphrey's McGee turned the heat to a solar level on the second night of the two-show, weekend run.
