The Big What? 2024: A Soulful Odyssey of Sound and Celebration

Big Something’s joyous festival The Big What? returned for 3 uplifting days of music, art and community in sunny NC.

Nestled once again in the lush expanse of the Shakori Hills Community Arts Center in Pittsboro, NC, The Big What? was a harmonious blend of soulful music and shared laughter held from August 22-24. Now in its twelfth year, the festival - hosted by North Carolina's own Big Something - felt like a reunion of old friends and a warm welcome to new faces.

Goose sell out Red Hat Amphitheater for the first time

Goose is a band from Wilton, Connecticut that have been around for 10 years. Rick Mitarotonda plays lead guitar and sings lead vocals, Peter Anspach plays keyboards, guitar, and does backing and lead vocals, Trevor Weekz is on bass and backing vocals, Jeff Arevalo is on drums and percussion instruments, and Cotter Ellis is their new drummer, replacing Ben Atkind after he left the band last year. Jambands can have a bad rap for their singers being below par in one way or another, but Goose is not one of those bands.

Rooster Walk Music & Arts Festival 2024

A heartwarming celebration of music, community and nature

The 14th annual Rooster Walk Music & Arts Festival once again transformed the 150-acre Pop's Farm in southern Virginia into a vibrant haven for music lovers over Memorial Day weekend. The festival was born in 2009 to honor two high school friends and raise money for charity, and has grown into a beloved homecoming for a close-knit tribe that congregates for four days of music, celebration and renewal among rolling green fields, a tranquil lake and shaded pine groves.

Friday night, Steel Pulse was in town playing at the Boulder Theater in Boulder, CO. Not only was the legendary group in town but the venue was sold out. Incredible little place to see these guys getting down but they also had a Colorado favorite, Chala opening up and setting the vibe for the night. Chala has it's roots from Latin music, as well as, hip hop and R&B with positive lyrics. What a great band to have as the opener for Steel Pulse.

Cris Jacobs releases new album and kicks off tour with Tommy Emmanuel

Cris Jacobs lost his way. Most of us do. Part of the story is in those lost days. But more of the story is in what we find again.

"As kids, we always had that feeling of, things are going to work out, the way I dream they'll work out," Jacobs says. "But then, the goal posts keep moving. And you wake up one day, and you're 45 and still reaching." Jacobs has gone for a walk in the hills outside Baltimore, which is still home. He takes a deep breath. "I think that's human nature, and that's what I've come to accept and embrace."

Tedeschi Trucks Band - Durham, NC 3-14-24

The Tedeschi Trucks Band brought their Deuce's Wild Tour to DPAC in Durham and they skillfully captured the crowd with their tales of love, loss and redemption.

In a night where the air crackled with anticipation and the stage was ablaze with talent, the Tedeschi Trucks Band delivered a concert experience that transcended mere entertainment and delved deep into the realms of musical bliss.

Andy Falco & Travis Book - Saxapahaw, NC 3/21/24

Andy Falco (guitar/vocals) and Travis Book (bass/vocals) returned to the beautiful Haw River Ballroom for the first time since performing there with their band, The Infamous Stringdusters, in 2019. This time they played an excellent tribute to Jerry Garcia, who's music had an important role in their own musical development.
