For the first time ever, legendary guitarist Jimmy Herring is hitting the road under his own name, with a hand-picked ensemble of all-star musicians in support. Pioneering a daring hybrid which crosses rock energy with the sophistication and improvisational fire of jazz, Herring's dynamic, exploratory guitar playing has been a key component of such renowned groups as the Aquarium Rescue Unit, Jazz is Dead, Project Z, and, most recently, Widespread Panic - with whom Herring plays lead guitar to this day. Much esteemed by his fellow musicians, Herring has also been called upon for stints with Phil Lesh and Friends, the Allman Brothers, and the Dead.

2009 marks the formation of the Jimmy Herring Band, featuring Herring on guitar, drummer extraordinaire Jeff Sipe (Aquarium Rescue Unit, Jazz is Dead, Shawn Lane), prolific jazz maverick Greg Osby on saxophone, multifaceted keyboardist Scott Kinsey (Tribal Tech), and musical chameleon Oteil Burbridge (spring tour only) on bass (Allman Brothers, Aquarium Rescue Unit).

The Summer Tour will feature world renowned bassist Matthew Garrison  (John McLaughlin, Herbie Hancock, Pat Metheny).

jimmy herringThe Jimmy Herring Band will be performing a wide range of material, including compositions from Herring's long-awaited and much-acclaimed 2008 solo debut "Lifeboat."  In addition, there will be some cover tunes from various influential records from the 60's and 70's- and select favorites from the catalogues of the individual band members. Herring is understandably excited about the prospect of performing this music with this lineup over an extended period of time. "It's a shot of adrenaline to get to play with musicians who are pushing the envelope and breaking down the walls that exist between genres of music. Each of these musicians inspires with every note they play."

"Lifeboat" is the debut solo album from Jimmy Herring released on Abstract Logix Music.

Mile High Music Festival exploded on to the national festival scene last year as hosts to Colorado's largest music and arts festival, offering concertgoers a tremendous variety of musical talent, food from many of Denver's top restaurants, an artists' village and more. The festival, which attracted more than 90,000 attendees its inaugural year, went off without a hitch and promises again to put the fan experience first. The festival grounds, with its remarkable views of the Denver skyline and Rocky Mountain Front Range, will offer even more shade and misting tents, an increased number of free water stations, and shorter concession lines. The 2009 event also boasts an upgraded VIP experience and expanded festival greening initiatives.

This year's Mile High Music Festival introduces a charity component as a special thank you to the community that is helping make the event a Colorado summer tradition. A portion of the ticket proceeds will benefit Commerce City's Quality Community Foundation (QCF).  "This is extremely good news," said Commerce City Mayor Paul Natale. "The city is very excited to again be apart of the Mile High Music Festival and for AEG Live to donate money to the city's Quality Community Foundation is just music to my ears." The Quality Community Foundation is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization established by Commerce City in 2006.  It grants money to organizations that provide nonprofit services to Commerce City residents.

On Friday the 13th, at about 10:40pm, Zach Deputy had his tour truck with all of his gear and equipment stolen from a La Qunita parking lot in Paramus, NJ. Zach performs more than 250 shows per year throughout the Eastern United States and Canada, and is on the road about 300 days a year, thus all of his clothing and every other item one can imagine for his personal life was also in the truck. Zach was on his way to a recording studio in Woodstock, NY at the time, and-- in addition to the instruments and electronic gear needed to perform and record this record-- many tracks that had been previously recorded were in the computer he lost in the theft. These had been backed up, but over the last 2 weeks since the backup many changes and edits had been made. Despite the loss, Zach rented a car on Saturday afternoon and performed that night in Woodstock on a borrowed guitar through a borrowed sound system. It was his first ever solo acoustic show, but as they say, "the show must go on." The hard drive with the previously recorded tracks is being overnighted from his home in South Carolina, and his management, the studio and local musicians in Woodstock are now scrambling to pull together the items needed to record the record.

The total loss, including the truck, is in excess of $85,000, and at this time it looks like nearly all of the losses (other the truck) will not be covered by his insurance.

Johnny Winter - 03.14.09 The Clayton Center, Clayton, NC

God said “Down on Highway 61”.
Actually, it was down on Highway 70 in a town of 14,000 located 20 miles east of here called Clayton and it was Johnny Winter that did the killing. The venue is the old Clayton High School auditorium and it seats about 600. The whole school has been converted into The Clayton Performing Arts Center, Conference Center and City Hall. Bren had auditioned for a play there but it is an otherwise brand new venue to us. The Blues Bash is one of the last shows of the season for them. Jesse Cook, a flamenco guitarist, and Kathy Mattea are still on the
