Ralph Stanley - Old-Time Pickin: A Clawhammer Banjo Collection

$9.98
Ralph Stanley established himself long ago as America's foremost singer of traditional mountain music. His instantly recognizable voice has earned him Grammys, a Grand Ole Opry membership, an honorary doctorate degree, a place in the bluegrass hall of fame, and a living. Ralph has, for the most part, set aside the banjo in his live performances for several years, but he usually picks it up for at least one rollicking, crowd-pleasing "clawhammer number." For a man who helped establish the bluegrass genre, it is fun to watch him return to the old-time mountain style of playing that he learned from his mother when he was 11. The eighteen songs on this collection represent nearly 30 years of recording for Stanley. Most of the clawhammer songs he recorded for Rebel Records are here, including nine previously unreleased tracks.
