When this album came out in 1968, blues purists were quite shocked. It seems even a legend in his own right like Muddy was not immune to the influence of "Sgt. Pepper's" and Jimi Hendrix. Muddy's trademark of stripped-down, earthy blues is usurped here in favor of big-sounding rock rhythms and caterwauling guitar. That said...this is one of the finest blues rock albums ever produced!
