Displaying their most blatant foray into the world of spiritual jazz, with Gemini, SFSE travel the hallowed ground paved by such legendary record labels as Tribe and Black Jazz, adding their signature fat-break funk to the mix and emerging with a highly-individual take on a tried-and-true sound, played with sensitivity and style, with a notable solo by San Diego-based trumpeter Gilbert Castellanos, who's played with such jazz luminaries as Horace Silver, Dizzy Gillespie, Quincy Jones, Les McCann, Tom Scott and Charles McPherson.
