Perpetual Groove: New Album, Single, Video, More

Check out the video for the first single "Upswing" from the album Perpetual Groove.

On May 17th, Harmonized Records will release Perpetual Groove, PGroove's first new album since 2009!  In addition to a North American tour in support of the LP, the band is resurrecting its popular Talking in Place message board on their revamped website, PGroove.net. The first single, "Upswing," was released today along with an accompanying video, a new venture for the veteran outfit.

After keeping fans waiting for nearly a decade, Perpetual Groove is back with a vengeance and a juggernaut of a new album. From the chest-pounding opening notes, there's a familiar, yet fully-realized sound that fans will find completely new and exciting. The entire album can be summed up in the first verse of Upswing, "No more norms which to rely on", showcasing a band that's at the top of their game and ready to take their message to the masses

In the tumultuous decade that followed the release of their last full-length album (including a two year performance hiatus), Perpetual Groove recruited producers Jason Kingsland and Tim Friesen to help redefine and fully realize the sound for their much anticipated new album.

Hunkering down for all of 2018 in recording studios, The Fidelitorium in Kernersville, NC and Studio MG in Roswell, GA, the band decided to forego the usual road test for new material. The Athens-based collective emerged this year with seven songs that represent all that life brings. The inimitable lyrical style of Brock Butler and Adam Perry focuses on loss, redemption, and hope which is balanced with a sonically cerebral and emotional undertow.

Lyricist and guitarist Brock Butler offers, "Each album we've made over the years offers a look into the moments of their respective eras. In comparison to our previous albums, this one was created over a longer period of time. In my experience, the difference of how I hear or feel a particular song today, versus when I revisit it sometime later, can be a considerable one. I feel we've sonically and lyrically captured this feeling. Our lyrics tell the stories of our lives--the joys and the sorrows, the lives and the deaths, the creations and the losses that have made us Perpetual Groove are reflected in each of these songs.  In each one, the music supports the lyrics and helps to tell the stories we wanted to share with each of you."

Lyricist and bassist Adam Perry adds, "After the breakup of PGroove, I was delighted that we reunited.  This album is fresh, exciting and truly reflects who we are now and is the platform for our future growth as a band."

Perpetual Groove caught everyone by surprise in 2015 when they returned to the stage after a two-year hiatus. The band performed eight weekends that year, over multi-night runs, to sold-out shows in some of their favorite cities across the country, thus ringing in a new chapter and inspiring a new album. The four members of PGroove worked tirelessly with producers Kingsland and Friesen to refocus their energy and take the time to meticulously craft music that stays true to their collective vision. This is a band that is fully realized and ready to bring their new sound, storytelling, and live experience to the masses.
