DWR

Dark Water Rising stays strong, continually developing their sound. As for the name, well, it stays strong too.

Led by Charly Lowry (lead singer/rhythm guitar), Aaron Locklear (keys/guitar/bass), Corey Locklear (lead guitar/cello/bass), and Shay Jones (drums), the band works to harness the sounds of Soul, Rock, Country, and R&B. Lyrically, Dark Water Rising explores all themes of life, whether it is love, heartbreak, sacrifice, celebration, despair, or pain; all the while expressing their sentiment on issues affecting Native American communities. Everyone always wants to know what you sound like; must be to test the waters. Dark Water Rising's live shows are worth going to with large groups of people-preferably friends and family.

Transitions come and go in life; the key is learning to adjust. DWR spends many days and nights thinking about the best songs for an album, or how to get a better tone. For Dark Water Rising, it's all about the music and the feelings it brings. The band has been blessed to meet friends, feel encouraged, and loved along the way.

Following the success of their debut, DWR is making plans to records their sophomore album. "Dark Water Rising" helped to open the doors for performances throughout the Southeastern US, considerable radio airplay, a distinguished interview with NPR's "The Story with Dick Gordon", and a Native American Music Award for "Debut Duo or Group of the Year" (2010).

Coming from a familiar place where the story really matters, Ten Toes Up has been five years in the making. Five years of hard work, prolific song writing, dedicated practice and self-promotion have created the foundation on which they stand. Nine hundred shows worth of performance experience has built Ten Toes Up; nine hundred shows of original rock & roll gives them an exclusively distinctive sound repeatedly described as "huge"...with some comparison as a distant nephew to the Allman's. Three studio recordings happily reside in thousands of ipods, cd players and car stereos up and down the east coast. Ninety-seven thousand miles have been logged bringing this music to the people.

Highlighted by screaming lap-steel guitar, harmonica and infectious drum solos; these four musicians play various instruments throughout the compelling energy exchange where the audience is irresistibly drawn into the performance. An eclectic fusion has generated a depth and layering of sound that has emerged as real rock & roll with "born & raised in the south" underpinnings, a little jazz, latin, funk and uncivilized passion. The Charleston City Paper's T. Ballard Lesseman writes "They snap with almost as much stout-hearted blue-eyed soul as anything the Faces, The Band or indeed the Allman's- ever attempted 30 years ago"

Ten Toes Up is a formidable wave comprised of singer/songwriter William Craven's vocals/guitar/weissenborn/slide whose voice and playing lend a presence reminiscent of the allure of a rock star to the common man; accessible yet elusive. Like an artist with a brush, William paints lyrical portraits on a backdrop of skillful phrasing with a clear succession of melodic, broodingly soulful sounds that captivate as well as seduce. We'll make sure to hold his future spot on the list of great slide guitar players too. Bassist/vocals Charles Freeman adds a masterful approach to visceral bass lines, developing a sound other musicians pay attention to. Listen closely and you will hear Charles and his bass having a sub-conversation within a song. Also a singer, Charles brings it with an undeniably edgy rock vocal laced with a shot of Tennessee's finest. With an irresistible beat, percussionist/harmonica/vocalist Joshua Gregory attacks with adrenaline-infused energy; rousing the audience like a musical preacher. The conguero behind the art plays his colliding beats, forming a creative tension which not only demands your attention, but commands it. His harp skills can best be conveyed as an alliance between wistful, sweet grace and primal passion. Drummer Adam Miller drives the underlying pulse of the band keeping the colorful rhythms in perfect sync with a complex intelligence of class& style. Using his sticks, he adds surprise intuitive touches while mirroring guitar and bass riffs. Fluid and agile, Adam keeps it rocking.

Ten Toes Up just swept entertainment magazine The Surge's 2011 reader's choice awards winning best band, best lead singer, best drummer, best bass player, best song writer, best guitar player and best original band in Myrtle Beach. They have been featured both on the cover of The Surge and Coastal Business Life. They have received numerous other press appearing in various media outlets. The band is also endorsed by Haywire Custom Guitars, Hercules Stands, Clayton USA picks, Mental Case Road Cases, and Axekisser Guitar Cables. Recently they've rocked-out on ABC's "LowCountry Live" on Fox's "Not The News" and Time Warner Cable's "Live at the Jam Room". Three of their songs are played in daily rotation on a local TV station.

Vermont-based acoustic trio with a penchant for high-energy bluegrass tempos, thumping rockabilly bass lines, and soaring three-part vocal harmonies.

Jatoba2_0

John Jamison-Guitar, Mandolin, Mandola, Sitar, Vocals

Jason Scaggs- Guitar, Baritone Guitar, Banjo, Vocals

Jeff Richardson- Upright Bass, Vocals

Music patrons of all ages and backgrounds can find something to love about Jatoba. In four short years the Vermont-based trio has cultivated a unique and instantly identifiable brand of music, incorporating styles and genres from all corners of the sonic spectrum, and indeed the globe. In what they have dubbed as "groove-grass", the three members employ quick bluegrass tempos driven by thumping, rockabilly-like bass lines, and accentuated with soaring three-part vocal harmonies. On top of this, they add effect-driven guitar solos, heavy rhythmic improvisation, beat-boxing, and even the occasional sitar interlude. Their debut album, Death, Fire & Picnic Tables, released in 2011, is a shining example of this eclecticism, and effortlessly showcases their song-writing talents, technical dexterity, and relentless energy.

Since first popping up on the public radar in 2008, Jatoba has accumulated a broad and deeply devoted fan base, both at home and around the Northeast, and has been a powerful force behind the revitalization of the previously lacking local music market. "This is not a 'what you see is what you get' group of guys. From their name, to their sound, to their bare feet on stage (weather permitting), and their quirky persona, Jatoba is making noise for the Southern Vermont music scene." (Brian Joy, Editor Cider Magazine) With live performances that feature ample improvisatory jams, seamless flow, and effective crowd interaction, the band's loyal following seldom stops dancing.

This debut album from Vermont's hottest groove-grass band is a smorgasbord of genres. Featuring the best of acoustic and electric music, these 10 tracks deliver ripping guitar leads and gritty vocal harmonies over punchy rhythmic improvisation, beat-boxing, and high-energy bluegrass tempos.

In addition to sharing bills and supporting artists such as Keller Williams, The David Grisman Quintet, Greensky Bluegrass, Zach Deputy, Cornmeal and Rusted Root, the group headlines an abundance of their own shows, delivering the same raucous synergy so apparent on recordings, but amplified in its intensity. During the summer months you can catch them at several festivals, as well as impromptu unplugged jams at Phish concerts, public parks, and main streets in and around Vermont.

Yarn is touring intensively and their impressive live shows continue to build the buzz.

Yarn

Blake Christiana - Vocals, Guitar

Trevor MacArthur - Vocals, Guitar

Andrew Hendryx - Mandolin, Harmonica

Rod Hohl - Electric Guitar

Rick Bugel - Bass

Robert Bonhomme - Drums

Brooklyn-based Americana/Alt-Country band Yarn's sound owes as much to Gram Parsons and Earl Scruggs as to Jerry Garcia and Exile On Main Street-era Rolling Stones. Following in a fine tradition that includes forward thinking roots bands like The Flying Burrito Brothers and New Riders of The Purple Sage, Yarn weaves roots music idioms into a fresh sound that turns on hipsters and fans of country music alike, with technically impressive song-crafting and universal tales from the road of life.

Since their start in 2007, Yarn's original Americana sound has developed into music that seekers of the unique see as the soundtrack to their lives. Yarn's first four albums were recognized by the AMA's and R&R radio charts, spending time in the top 5 at their highest point. Yarn has become one of the hardest-working and harder-touring bands for this generation's digital natives and new music folllowers.

2012 brings this grammy-nominated roots band into the music revolution, inspired by today's music devotee's hunger for artists to believe in and follow, they are giving it to the fans everyday in everyway possible. Yarn's devotion to their fans is realized in online and social sharing of their music, whether it's daily video posts, premiering fresh songs on local radio, or performing live in small town venues across the country. They are bringing songs to American music lovers, and the music lovers are responding.

On March 20th, Yarn released their new album, Almost Home, produced by the multi-Grammy winning, Bil VornDick, who has worked with Alison Krauss, Ralph Stanley, Bob Dylan and many others. Thanks to Kickstarter, an online funding platform, and the band's huge fan support, Yarn surpassed their goal, and are now able to super charge their promotions for the new record. Yarn's loyal fan base was integral in the collaboration with avid independent music supporters, Firefly Distilleries. Firefly has provided Yarn with their "On the Fly" RV that will be keeping them out on the road to evangelize about music and good times for their 2012 tour schedule. The group was recently featured on the January, 23rd CNN exclusive segment, Erin Burnett Out Front, showcasing their music and partnership with Firefly Vodka. They will also be making their first appearance at SXSW in March to play the New Frontier showcase. Their SXSW appearance coincides with the release of their new record, produced by the legendary Bil VornDick, who has worked with Alison Krauss, Ralph Stanley, Bob Dylan and many others. His credits appear on No. 1 albums in five different musical genres.

Yarn's new release continues to live up to their band name, weaving together the fibers of roots music into songs that are passionate and resonate with audiences across America. The Brooklyn born sextet- Blake Christiana ( Vocals, Guitar), Trevor MacArthur (Vocals, Guitar), Andrew Hendryx (Mandolin, Harmonica), Rod Hohl (Electric Guitar), Rick Bugel (Bass) and Robert Bonhomme  (Drums) - are known for calling out the overproduced pop music of the day and revolutionizing roots music styles, transforming them into a fresh sound. Christiana, an impressive songwriter and lead vocalist, confesses universal tales of life on the road that will appeal to edgy music hopefuls as well as fans of more traditional country music. They draw up the best of America's past and charge it with the insurgence of Americana's present. Yarn excels at unraveling their own blend of peaceful alt-country, indie-rock with a raw sound that begs for repeat listens. "Growing up as a kid listening to Willie Nelson and Elvis Presley, I built my own musical taste," Christiana says.

CD REVIEW

The album pulls from the inspiration of the greats but is amplified by what each band member uniquely brings into the studio from the streets of New York. Hendryx's crafted Mandolin riffing takes control while Christiana,MacArthur and Hohl's harmonious thirds echo volume building melodies. Bugel's unwavering bass and Bonhomme's driving beats punctuate the band's emotion provoking authenticity.

In 2007, Yarn's self-titled debut album peaked at No. 14 on the AMA and R&R Radio Charts, and ranked No. 79 on the AMA's Top 100 Albums of that year. In 2008, the band's second record, Empty Pockets, spent months in the top 5 on the AMA chart and garnered them eight, first round 2009 Grammy nominations. Yarn's 2008 released album, Come On In, reached #25 on the top 100 Americana chart of 2010.

Christiana beams, "I like to think America is in the midst of a musical revolution, revolting against the candycoated, over-produced [stuff] being spoon-fed into our earholes. Revolt, America, and we'll see you at our shows." Yarn is definitely a band that earns musical converts with their live performances. Check out their upcoming tour dates in support of their latest album along with CD release parties happening across the country. In addition to performing at SXSW in March, they will be featured alongside Allison Krauss and Union Station at California's Strawberry Music Festival.

"They are playing good music and living the American dream. We think Yarn is going to make it big" - Erin Burnett, CNN, Erin Burnett Out Front
