The Mantras - Raleigh, NC 02.23.2019

Light The Beacons- The Mantras Ignite Raleigh

The night was cold, damp, and dreary. Yes, the mid February eve was by most standards unpleasant and uninviting, save for one illuminating factor sure to light up the city of oaks; The Mantras had pulled their wagon of sound into town. The five piece bomb squad delivered two sets at the Pour House that scorched the stage of the familiar Raleigh haunt, leaving attendees grateful to be alive, enraptured in captivation.

JJ Grey and Mofro with Cris Jacobs in Raleigh 02.27.2019

In addition to all tickets being sold out in advance for Wednesday night’s show in the Capital City, it was also a “Souled Out” show much to the delight of the venue's patrons

As the hands on the clock stage left at the Lincoln Theatre struck eight, Cris Jacobs casually strapped on his Fender Telecaster and took his place on stage accompanied by his three-piece band. "Jack The Whistle And The Hammer", from his debut album Dust To Gold (2016), ignited the evening and set the tone for what would be a night of passionate, blues infused, and soul-tinged rock and roll.

Drive By Truckers with Lucinda Williams - Raleigh, NC 02.07.2019

Let there be rock, in Raleigh. The Drive-By Truckers at the Ritz.

The Drive-By Truckers ascended upon the Ritz in Raleigh with opening acts Erika Wennerstrom and Lucinda Williams. The female supporting artists absolutely thrilled the crowds. The parking lots had been full, despite everyone's usual grumblings about the cost of parking and booze. The crowd was a mixture of young music enthusiasts who mentioned they'd never seen any of the acts before, and older, more seasoned DBT veterans. The common bond was everyone's enthusiasm for the show. EVERYONE was having a great time.

Willow Tree Coffeehouse and Music Room 5th Anniversary celebration
The Willow Tree Coffeehouse and Music Room held their 5th Anniversary celebration and it's a tradition that we hope endures.

After years of hearing stories about The Willow Tree Coffeehouse and Music Room's reunions and the storied magic that happens there every year, a few of us decided to make the trek from the Triangle NC through Boone and across the mountain pass into Johnson City Tennessee to see what all the fuss was about.   It was everything we had heard and more.
