2008 SeepeopleS Tour Dates + Will Bradford debuts three new songs being used for the upcoming independent film release, "The Legend of Cody Collins."
Will Bradford, lead singer, guitarist and primary songwriter for the band SeepeopleS, recently finished recording three new songs at Starlight Studios in Asheville, North Carolina, to be used in an upcoming independent film, "The Legend of Cody Collins." The songs are available for streaming at his MySpace page. More information on initial screenings of the film will be posted on the band's website. The songs are the first previews of a forthcoming solo album by Bradford, also currently being recorded at Starlight Studios.

There will be a lot of music on the way for 2008 from the SeepeopleS camp. This of course includes the upcoming fourth full-length album, Apocalypse Cow Vol. 2, (the follow up to the 2007 release, Apocalypse Cow. Vol. 1), which is being recorded at the familiar setting of Chillhouse Studios in Boston with long-time SeepeopleS producer Will Holland (Pixies, Dead Can Dance). As usual, the album promises to be overly ambitious, perplexing, anthemic and monstrous in scope. "Fans of the band's second album, The Corn Syrup Conspiracy, will probably like the second installment of Apocalypse Cow series more than the first," states Bradford. "It is certainly a return to the electronica-freak out roots we were once known for. 'Epic' might be a good way to describe it."

The band has also announced the first tour dates of 2008, starting with an East Coast run from the band's former home in the Northeast, to the Southeast, where the band is now based. Fans can expect to hear lots of new songs from both Apocalypse Cow Vol. 2, and the forthcoming Bradford solo album, as well as further improvements on the already visually stunning combination of moving lights and video screens. The band is also scheduled to appear at the Camp Jam Festival in Lacoochee, FL. Other confirmed acts include the Burnin Smyrnans, Strut, Laura Reed and Deep Pocket. Tour dates are listed below.

Keller Williams has been called guitar’s mad-scientist, a one-man band for the new millennium, and dozens of other clever sobriquets dreamed up by fans and music journalists trying to get a handle on his uplifting and ever-shifting style of music.
Though Keller's music has evolved since he first started playing music over twenty years ago, some things have remained constant: Keller is a prolific artist, an exceptional guitarist, and an accomplished songwriter. Now, Keller's twelfth album release looks back at a ground-breaking and already remarkable career. Aptly titled 12 (SCI Fidelity Records), the album features one standout song from each of his previous eleven releases. Keller himself dubs this his album of "hitless greatest hits." Added to the mix is one new, previously un-recorded song. While the Keller Williams adventure has only just begun, 12 is a fantastic celebration of a musical milestone.

To get the new year started, Keller Williams and The WMDS are hitting the road for a short run of dates. The WMDS debuted at select festival performances this past summer, including an epic and electrifying Bonnaroo show. Since then, the band has brought the show to theatres in select markets. The WMDS features Williams on guitar/vocals, Keith Moseley on bass (The String Cheese Incident), Gibb Droll on guitar (Marc Broussard), and Jeff Sipe on drums (Aquarium Rescue Unit, Trey Anastasio, Susan Tedeschi, Phil Lesh).

The current list of confirmed Keller Williams tour dates is as follows:

January 17 Orange Peel Asheville NC
January 18 City Hall Nashville TN
January 19 The Pageant St. Louis MO
January 20 The Blue Note Colombia MO
January 22 Liberty Hall Lawrence KS

More dates to be announced.

Keller Williams has been refining his unique kind of performance art for almost 15 years, logging over 100 gigs annually, and he's a productive recording artist as well. His calling card? - a creative combination of talent and technology. Known, of course, for his astonishing one-man show, Keller Williams surrounds himself with instruments and pedals and slides from one to the next. While his songs are rooted in Williams' warm voice and spirited acoustic guitar, Keller gives them depth and breadth via looping and delay. Keller essentially accompanies himself, looping several instruments, and filling up an entire room with lush layers of sound ... just one man and a humongous imagination.
Rising out of the ashes of New Year's Eve, Perpetual Groove [PG] breaks in to the new year to kick off the "Save 41 Tour" which will carry the band through four months of touring coast to coast, with stops at some of the world’s best festivals including Jam Cruise, Langerado, and Jam in the Dam - an epic three days of music at Amsterdam's Melkweg.
The band's first official live release, the 2-disc "Echos From The Cave," drops in late February. It was recorded in spring 2006 in front of an intimate studio audience at Tree Sound Studios. The release culls together the best from both nights including fan favorites, "Teakwood Betz," "Only Always," and "Mr. Transistor." Also included on the release are several previously unreleased songs like "Suburban Speedball," and "T.T.F.P.J." The album was recorded and mixed by Shawn Grove (Sevendust, Collective Soul, Edwin McCain) and is being released through Tree Leaf Music.
The band's fall Serious Business Tour was powered by the Green Mountain Energy Company and left a positive impact on our environment. All emissions were offset with renewable energy credits through a partnership with Sustainable Waves and Eco-Tunes. This included all the travel, lodging and electricity expended by the venues at Perpetual Groove concerts. In 2007 PG purchased enough energy credits to offset 100% of the calculated carbon emissions associated with its tour (16 metric tons), which is like not driving your car for over 39,000 miles or the annual carbon absorbtion of 2,000 trees.

For those waiting for a concert experience with the dynamics of a rock band (read: no laptops), the dance inducing rhythms of club music, and the sophistication of modern electronica, an unlikely musical alternative has arrived in the form of the band Lotus.
Formed at a Mennonite college that had banned on-campus dancing as late as the 1980's, Lotus brings their club-worthy beats and rocking instrumental anthems to theaters throughout the country this fall. No glow-stick bracelets, pretentious Can trivia, or expensive distressed fashion required.

In January 2008, Lotus embarks on their "Copy Paste Repeat" tour, which celebrates the release of Copy Paste Repeat: Lotus Remixed, and album the band released this past November. The recording offers 12 remixes by renowned producers including DFA Records artist Juan Maclean, DJ Harry, and Lotus's own Jesse Miller. Lotus's post/electro/dancerock is deconstructed and reassembled into club ready dance, dub, glitch-hop, and IDM tracks. The band's website is currently offering up the source files for the track 'Bubonic Tonic' for fans to create their own remix and submit for review. The site will feature the band's favorite submissions. Visit www.lotusvibes.com for details.

Copy Paste Repeat: Lotus Remixed comes on the heels of the band's third studio album. Escaping Sargasso Sea, released May 2007, is a double-disc live album that draws from two previous studio albums, Nomad and The Strength of Weak Ties , along with never before released material. From the post/math-rock of "When H Binds to O" to the slippery dance beats of "Wax," this collection shows Lotus's ability to deconstruct, stretch, and rebuild their compositions spontaneously on stage. Restraining from flaunting their individual chops, Lotus builds compositions on catchy melodies and heavy grooves.

The five-piece band has creatively fused electronic dance music with instrumental post-rock for eight years. The result is an explosive live show that has made crowds get down across the US, Canada, and Japan. Armed with a massive light rig and one of the most energetic shows on the circuit, Lotus proves why they have become a go-to act for late night festival slots. This tour takes the band into renowned theatres nationwide including Georgia Theatre in Athens, the Recher Theatre in Towson, and the Granada Theater in Dallas, among others.

Lotus' complete list of confirmed dates is as follows:

January 04 Jam Cruise 6 Ft. Lauderdale FL

MO2 - DSD

mo2prv.jpg
Burgeoning, upstart, fresh-faced, young, up-and-coming…all of these words and phrases describe San Francisco’s MO2, but the first thing you need to know about the quartet is that they have a clear musical vision. Their unapologetic instrumental dance excursions are tempered only by the moment on their first release, the lengthy live burner DSD.

Conscious Alliance's Youth Against Hunger project (YAH) offers exciting alternative service-learning experiences for college students during their fall/spring breaks. YAH synthesizes service learning by combining education and hands-on service. The inaugural YAH trip took place October 21-26, 2007, with students from Warren Wilson College (Asheville, NC) participating. YAH students learned about hunger related issues, as well as Lakota culture, by providing compassionate cross-cultural community service on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. While on the reservation, students lodged with community leaders Floyd and Natalie Hand, as they sorted and distributed food to community members in need, aided with home repairs for Lakota families, participated in educational sessions with Lakota elders, and communicated with Pine Ridge college students and peers about current cultural, social, economic, and environmental issues. Conscious Alliance's YAH provides students with the knowledge and support they need to return to their respective communities and, using the skills they have acquired, create positive change in their local communities. The next YAH trip will take place in spring 2008. For more information on Conscious Alliance and YAH, and upcoming service learning opportunities, please visit http://www.consciousalliance.org/projects.yah.htm.

RAQ'N in Raleigh - 11.02.07 - Lincoln Theatre

raq-logo.jpg
RAQ brought the roof down at the Lincoln Theatre in Raleigh, North Carolina last Friday night, their last stop in the south before heading home.

My legs ache.....and this is a good thing. They haven't hurt like this since my first spinning class at the Y but I would definitely take the work-out I received while dancing my tail off to RAQ verse the techno beat they play while we "challenge" our bodies to go faster on a stationary bike.
