The ALL POINTS WEST MUSIC AND ARTS FESTIVAL is being created in a "green" festival environment. Initial "green" plans include on-site parking for carpoolers only and ample public transportation to and from the site. Ferry service will be available from Manhattan directly to the festival grounds; exact details with ferry schedules will be announced at a later date. Additionally, light rail service via NJ Transit will run directly to the festival grounds. Meanwhile, a limited supply of on-site parking is reserved exclusively for carpoolers. Carpool parking passes are available either as single days for Saturday and Sunday or as a three-day pass for the weekend. Note: four concert tickets are required in order to qualify for carpool parking.

The festival's name is inspired by the area's rich history, particularly Ellis Island and the NJ Central Railroad terminal located on the festival site, where many arriving immigrants boarded trains for ALL POINTS WEST.

Rothbury is a four day camping festival that promises on-site lodging options, unprecedented sustainability initiatives and one of the best artist lineups of the year.

On July 4th weekend 2008, ROTHBURY emerges as a new American celebration. For this next generation of the rock and roll music festival, ROTHBURY sets forth as a huge party with a purpose. Hosted at the one-of-a-kind Double JJ Ranch in Rothbury, Michigan, the unique festival site offers trails, forests, fields, lakes and beach fronts, and even on-site lodging, bars and eateries. The four day, environmentally sustainable music and camping festival promises to be an inspiring cultural assembly; one where music fans, artists and progressive thinkers gather to celebrate much more than music.

It is ROTHBURY’s goal to harness the unique energy of the live music community into a durable social movement toward an important cause: Climate Change and Clean Energy Alternatives. In addition to a diverse and stellar lineup of over 70 bands on 8 stages, ROTHBURY will host a Think Tank and Energy Fair, and features unprecedented audience participation opportunities.

Music is the soul of ROTHBURY, which today makes its initial artist line-up announcement.  Confirmed musical acts include Dave Matthews Band, Widespread Panic, John Mayer, 311, Phil Lesh and Friends, Modest Mouse, Primus, Snoop Dogg, Michael Franti and Spearhead, Thievery Corporation, STS9 and many others.  A complete list of confirmed artists follows, and many others will be announced in the coming months.

The ROTHBURY Think Tank is an event within the event, offering various buzz sessions and roundtables between leading scientists, scholars, writers, progressive political and corporate leaders, youth leaders, and entertainers.  Confirmed as ROTHBURY Think Tank Curator is Dr. Stephen H. Schneider, with participants Dr. Eban Goodstein, L. Hunter Lovins, Winona LaDuke, and many, many others to be announced.  The Think Tank will address the topic of Climate Change and Clean Energy Solutions, geared toward conversations related to corporations, government/policy makers, and the individual. Think Tank events will share ideas about how to lessen our ecological and carbon footprint. Interactive participation, both face-to-face and through the use of multi-media technology, enable the ROTHBURY community to engage with the Think Tank at multiple levels.

ROTHBURY’s Energy Fair, where attendees engage hands-on with cutting edge, sustainable technology and products, offers a flurry of scheduled and surprise activities, plus food/drink, vending, performances/presentations on the Workshop Stage, contests and interactive opportunities, and so much more.

ROTHBURY itself is committed to producing a near zero-waste concert. The first to tackle a green program of this magnitude at an around-the-clock (camping) concert in the USA, ROTHBURY has an on-staff Greening Chief, and has implemented multiple initiatives toward this effort, including replacing disposables with 100%
compostables, recycling and composting, choosing clean energy, carbon-offsetting, and Green Ticket options.

ROTHBURY’s Solar Schools Program powered by Black Rock Solar will outfit a local school with a free solar panel system. ROTHBURY is committed to donating an absolute minimum of $50,000 worth of solar panels. This year’s Solar Schools Program recipient:  Shelby High School in Shelby, MI. Bristling hi-energy nu-funk with abundant shades of afro-beat, soul jazz, boogaloo, and distorted rock color is Britain’s most illustrious jam band! New Mastersounds!
nmsre On the heels of their acclaimed 2007 studio album "102%" and tours of Europe celebrating their Italian release "RE::MIXED" (released on Record Kicks 10.15.07) and a great year touring US Jam Clubs! The New Mastersounds are about to appease fans demand to bring their live high-energy funk throw down back to the east! NMS will appear on Tuesday March 11th @ Stella Blue, and @ The Pour House in Raleigh on Weds. March 12th.

Led by guitar virtuoso Eddie Roberts, this telepathically tight quartet features plenty of Hammond grooves by B3 burner Joe Lavers, with phat and heavy bass and drums courtesy of Pete Shand and Simon Allen respectively. New Mastersounds are guaranteed to satisfy followers of funk and soul jazz, with a broad spectrum of pure vintage sounds and original hooks & grooves that just keep getting better and better!

Extremely popular at US music festivals, The New Mastersounds are beginning to sell out the funk-jam band circuit. The band has been stretching out, adding new twists and bops to many of the old favorites, and new dimensions to the interplay and groove development.  The New Mastersounds are now pulling off three hour sets, mixing up infectious funk originals with their own arrangements of the soul-jazz classics, keeping the crowds dancing and attracting sit-ins by members of the Greyboy Allstars, as well as Paige McConnell, Dave Grippo, Karl Denson, Bryan Jordan (KDTU), Stanton Moore (Galactic), George Eckehart and many more.

Zach Deputy - Pour House - Raleigh, NC 02.12.08

Zach Deputy
An exceptionally tasty guitar player with a tremendous vocal range, natural stage presence and contagious playfulness and humor, Zach Deputy employs live looping as a means of filling out his sound.

With rain outside and a busted transmission in Asheville, NC, Zach Deputy kept on truckin and made it to "The Pour House Music Hall" in Raleigh, NC.  Adoring fans awaited his arrival with smiles, conversations of past shows, and hopeful enthusiasm. The show started off with a soulful ballad about "Belonging" then moved into a 20-minute, funk-blues-calypso jam loaded with all the fixins that make people tap their toes until they can no longer stand back from the stage trying to look cool. That's when the party begins.

Jeff Bujak - Building: An Arsenal CD

Jeff Bujak - Building: An Arsenal
Jeff Bujak is gradually and carefully creating his own musical world. It's clear from the first track of his new CD, Building: An Arsenal, that there are countless ideas just zinging around in this guy's head. Here I was thinking that his last opus - 2006's Peaces of Man and Machine - was about as ambitious a solo album as I'd heard. He's bested himself with this new album, a result of the apparent war going on between his inner human and machine.
One of Western North Carolina's best events returns Memorial Day Weekend with Asheville's favorite son, Warren Haynes, and his Gov't Mule.
Other artists include:
  • Burning Spear
  • Ivan Neville's Dumptsaphunk
  • The Lee Boys
  • Jason Isbell

  • Laura Reed and Deep Pocket
  • Jaime McLean Band
  • JP Folk Festival
