The Motet with Isaac Hadden Organ Trio - Raleigh 3/13/24

The Motet bring the funk to Raleigh

The up-and-coming group Isaac Hadden Organ Trio opened the night up, getting everyone in a dancing mood. The Trio is made up of Isaac Hadden on guitar & vocals, Bill Stevens on organ & vocals, and on this evening, Nick Baglio was in playing drums (normally Iajhi Hampden is on drums). They played many numbers from their debut album The Glue, which came out last year. Some tracks from this album that they played included "Magic", "Dynamite", "Hot Polutix", and "Always There". "Always There" is a cover of Ronnie Laws, who released it in 1975.

JJ Grey and Mofro-Durham NC 3-10-24

JJ Grey and his incredible band stopped in Durham NC supporting his latest LP, Olustee.

JJ Grey, the soulful singer from Northeast Florida, brought his band Mofro to the Durham Performing Arts Center (DPAC) on Sunday March 10th to a very welcoming crowd.  The group is on tour promoting their latest release Olustee.  It's Grey's first release in nine years, and the band's tenth album.

Cool Cool Cool - Raleigh NC 3-6-2024

Cool Cool Cool brought their infectious grooves to the Lincoln Theater in Raleigh!

After the unexpected demise of one of my favorite funk bands in 2022, Turkuaz, I was like most of their fans, very disappointed.  Fortunately the majority of the former members didn't waste much time before conjuring up a plan to change course. Suddenly like a Phoenix, rising from the ashes of that fiery collapse, a new band was born that they collectively named Cool Cool Cool.   A fresh vision based off of their experiences on the road and the tight relationships that they formed touring together for over a decade.

Grace Potter - Raleigh NC 1-29-2024

Grace Potter & her band bring a truly electrifying night of Rock n’ Roll to the Lincoln Theater

Baltimore native and now Nashville-based artist Brittney Spencer opened the evening. She has been on the rise recently particularly in the country music sphere. She has performed with the likes of Jason Isbell, Willie Nelson, and the Highwomen. For the show she had Grace Potter's drummer Jordan West and her own electric guitarist Omri Skop. On some songs she played her acoustic guitar.

Greensky Bluegrass with Duane Betts - Raleigh 01.18.2024

Psychedelic Bluegrass and Southern Rock make a good combo!

The evening began with Duane Betts and Palmetto Motel. Son of Dickey Betts, the guitarist who is one of the founders of the Allman Brothers Band, Duane continues the southern-rock legacy with his own band and his own songs. His band for the evening was made up of guitarist Johnny Stachela, drummer Vince Fossett Jr., and bassist Pedro Arevalo.

Daniel Donato's Cosmic Country

With the release of his latest recording, Reflector, and a very aggressive tour schedule including several upcoming shows across North Carolina in February, 2024 should be a great year for his band and fans.

If you're not already familiar with Daniel Donato, and his band Cosmic Country, you might want to get to know him.  The buzz around this 27 year old guitar player has been traveling around in Jamband circles for a few years.  He's built up a grassroots fan base, with his brand of music that he calls Cosmic Country.  Of course the ideas that are rolled into the descriptor "Cosmic Country' aren't really new.
