The Marcus King Band CD
Songwriter. Guitarist. Singer. Bandleader. At only 20 years of age, Marcus King's dazzling musical ability is evident throughout The Marcus King Band, the young phenom's 2nd full-length LP and first for Fantasy Records. Operating within the fiery brand of American roots music that King calls "soul-influenced psychedelic southern rock," the album highlights King's gorgeous, rough-hewn vocals, soaring guitar work and heartfelt songwriting all amidst a group of masterful musicians who, together, are quickly becoming one of the country's most sought after live acts.
The new record was produced by Warren Haynes (Allman Brothers Band, Gov't Mule) and features performances by Haynes and his Allman Brothers Band counterpart Derek Trucks (Tedeschi Trucks Band).
The band's first record - the self-produced Soul Insight - debuted at #8 on the Billboard Blues charts launching the band into opening spots with Gov't Mule, Johnny Winter, The Revivalists, JJ Grey & MOFRO, Blackberry Smoke and appearances at Austin City Limits, Mountain Jam, SXSW and Warren Haynes' Annual Christmas Jam.
The new single, "Ain't Nothing Wrong With That," is already picking up steam on the ready having been featured on NPR's World Cafe and WXPN naming the band their Artist To Watch.
JamBase lauded a recent New York City performance as "one of those saw-him-when kind of nights that are truly few and far between," and the band has also received high praise from Guitar Player, Guitar World, Elmore Magazine and Relix.
