With special guest appearances by friends Lucinda Williams, Robert Randolph, Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Tate County Singers, Al Kapone, and Rising Star Fife and Drum Band, this theatrical musical statement goes straight into the cosmos of collective imagination. Along with the band's authentic Mississippi blues foundation, there's a slew of diverse elements: well-timed rap lyricism in a few spots, choral brilliance in others, while wistful moans alternate with exuberant hill-country rockers. With this disc, the Allstars have kept their inventiveness afloat while always staying true to their roots.
