Mission Players - Get Back Soul CD

Grown out of jam sessions in San Francisco's Mission District, Mission Players found their core group in early 2001. Consisting of Mike Mulqueen (Lead Vocals/Guitar), Greg Garvey (Bass), Jason Movrich (Guitar/Vocals), Erik Mekkelson (Tenor Sax), and Jessie Hiller (Drums), the band reflects the deep-rooted music of 70s soul and funk and is heavily flavored with influences from Stevie Wonder, James Brown and The Meters. This is pure funk creation with an unrelenting groove that reminds the listener of not only the 1960's roots of Bay-area soul and funk, but also of the forward-thinking fusion of modern times.
