Previously unreleased archival tapes of Commander Cody & His Lost Planet Airmen in a complete show (March 28, 1970) at the Family Dog, plus bonus tracks from 6 nights at the Family Dog (February 27-March 29). Recorded by the Grateful Dead's renowned soundman Owsley Stanley, known as Bear, the sound quality is exquisite, characteristic of the Bear's Sonic Journal series. It is the most extensive collection of this artist's work from that time period, featuring rare and seldom played songs. The booklet includes original cover art by Chris Shaw and an original, unpublished design by Commander Cody himself. There are 10 rare, unpublished photos of the band from the relevant time period. Liner notes by former Grateful Dead archivist, Nicholas G. Meriwether. With more than 40 tracks spanning a variety of musical idioms -- country western, rock'n'roll, blues, rockabilly, zydeco, and more.
