Imagine… your eyes open effortlessly to the tune of the frolicking blue ridge mountain stream. You climb out of your abode in the neighborhood, inhale the mist and the distant aroma of incense. You stretch, wander over the bridge to the dawn flower essence workshop or go sit in the meditation meadow for a few moments. When you hear the gong, wander to your first yoga class of the day, the tea shanty or Red Rooster Coffee for a cuppa and a gigantic sourdough orange pecan cinnamon roll.

In Sanskrit, a dakini, or “she who moves through the sky” is thought to be the embodiment of enlightened female energy. The YOjam promoters are Shirley Ann Burgess, owner of Living Light Yoga Studio and Wellness Center(www.livinglightinfloyd.com), Laura Polant, owner of the forestry firm, Artemis GIS (artemis.gis@gmail.com) and the mother–daughter team, Suze and Mud Bailey, owners of RAGGEdge Gear (www.raggedgegear.com). All are Appalachian homesteaders, yoga devotees, local instigators of the highest degree, and work and live in Floyd County, Virginia.
