New Additions to the Catalog:

waybacks5th The Waybacks - Loaded CD - For The Waybacks, musical evolution is a way of life and a spectator sport. They're as uninhibited and unpredictable as the eclectic San Francisco Bay area that claims them, but their experiments are invariably sharp-witted and musically dazzling. They've been through changes for sure. Shake-ups even. Now configured as a four-piece with a full arsenal of acoustic and electric instruments, The Waybacks introduce Loaded, the boldest, rangiest and most exciting album of their career. Produced by Nashville bassist Byron House, the folky underpinnings are still there, but after years of playing a huge range of venues and festivals (including some major gigs with Grateful Dead founder Bob Weir) and reconfiguring themselves around the hot guitar of James Nash and the fiddle virtuosity of Warren Hood, The Waybacks are enjoying a refreshed repertoire one that's touched by Memphis soul, roadhouse boogie, Parisian swing, classical, vintage blue pop and much more. $16.99

plantsth Plants and Animals - Parc Avenue CD/Vinyl LP - This one's going to be one of the best of the year, eh? Parc Avenue is the hotly anticipated full length debut from Montreal trio Plants and Animals, a sprawling opus that owes as much to Nina Simone’s rockingest moments as it does to the epic sound of Canadian contemporaries Arcade Fire (whose Sarah Neufeld appears as a guest on the album). From classic seventies guitar tones to folky ballads and sea shanties-turned-post-rock, Parc Avenue is a monumental release in the sense of rock and roll re-invented. We love it! CD $14.99; 2-LP Vinyl $22.99

shaktidvdth John McLaughlin & Zakir Hussain - Remember Shakti: The Way of Beauty DVD - This 3-hour DVD is packed with performance footage, interviews, and magical music! It features a 60-minute documentary - "Timeless" - on the band, starting from the early 70's. John and Zakir speak about their beginnings and their era with L.Shankar and T.H. Vinayakram. Then there's 45 minutes of sound check footage with Remember Shakti from Paris 2004, as well as 55 minutes of the concert from Mumbai 2000. Also includes snippets of 2 Live Concerts, one featuring the original band from 1976 (Montreux Jazz Festival) as well as footage from Montreux Jazz 2004. $18.98

timo4th Tim O'Brien - Chameleon CD - IBMA and Grammy award winner Tim O'Brien is a singer of unusual clarity and originality, a self-taught multi-instrumentalist of rare ability, and an incisive songwriter who has made a lasting mark on Americana music. Chameleon is O'Brien's first since the simultaneous release of Cornbread Nation and Fiddler's Green in 2006, which won him a Grammy in the Best Traditional Folk category. $18.98

tt8th Tony Trischka - Territory CD - With fearless musical curiosity as the guiding force, Tony Trischka's Territory roams widely through the banjo's creative terrain. Twelve all-Trischka solo tracks explore a panorama of tunings, banjo sounds, and traditions. Nine selections partner Tony with fellow banjoists Pete Seeger, Mike Seeger, Bill Evans, Bill Keith, Bruce Molsky, and other guest artists to tap the creative potential of America's signature musical instrument. 62 minutes, 21 tracks, 32-page booklet, extensive notes, and photos. $16.98

troy42707thTroy "Trombone Shorty" Andrews - Live at Jazz Fest CDs (2004, 2006, 2007) - A Troy Andrews Jazz Fest show is a guaranteed funky good time! We have three past performances available, from the revelatory 2004 set recorded when Troy was just 17 years old, to the flamboyant and fiery funk of the past couple of years. Hearing these will make you want to pack your bags for NOLA immediately! 2004, 2006, and 2007 - $17.00 each

glovejazzth G. Love and Special Sauce - Live at Jazz Fest 2005 CD - Always fun and funky, G. Love brought his sweet show to Jazz Fest in 2005 and it is captured here for all to enjoy! Besides running through his hip original tunes that sway with bluesy swagger and rhythmic diversity, G is joined by harmonica legend Charlie Musselwhite on one song! Recorded 4.24.05, New Orleans, LA. $17.00

stoltz42305th Brian Stoltz - Live at Jazz Fest 2005 CD - One of the defining guitarists of New Orleans music! Brian Stoltz has come into his own unique musical world as of late, and his sublime, bluesy songs are captured with extra live vigor on this release! Recorded 4.23.05, New Orleans, LA. $17.00

bogjazzth Brotherhood of Groove - Live at Jazz Fest 2005 CD - As you can tell from the tracklist, this show simply smoked! With expansive, improvisational flights of funk, Brotherhood of Groove embodies the spirit and sound of Jazz Fest perfectly! Recorded 4.24.05, New Orleans, LA. $17.00

ssjazzth Slightly Stoopid - Live at Jazz Fest 2005 CD - It must have been a wild time at the fairgrounds when Slightly Stoopid took the stage! Delivering their energetic rasta-hip-hop-infused rock, the band gives it to the crowd good on this hour of power! Recorded 4.28.05, New Orleans, LA. $17.00

shugth Shuggie Otis - Inspiration Information CD - Inspiration Information, the brainchild of guitar prodigy Shuggie Otis, more than justifies the cult following garnered in the decades since its (largely ignored) 1974 release. Son of R&B legend Johnny Otis, Shuggie was a late-'60s celebrity due to his Super Session duets with Al Kooper. Opting out of arena rock - he supposedly refused an offer to join the Rolling Stones - the 19-year-old Otis spent three years in the studio generating this one-man opus. His multitracked rhythms recall the laid-back funk of the Meters embroidered with psychedelic filigree, and his voice resembles Allan Toussaint's. But in every other regard, this is singular, sexy music, dislocated in time. Also featured are four bonus cuts from the artist's 1971 set Freedom Flight, including "Strawberry Letter 23," which was later a hit for the Brothers Johnson. Unbelievably wonderful, criminally ignored! $12.99

dynath Charles Walker & The Dynamites - Kaboom! Vinyl LP - Vinyl edition of this must-have album! The Dynamites are 10 pieces of straight-up, badass deep funk and super soul! The band has quickly become a sensation in their hometown of Nashville, Tennessee. Right from their very first gig, a sold-out performance at local showcase club The Basement, The Dynamites began generating Super Soul Excitement with the funkiest band of players imaginable and a front man with the voice and experience to blow the roof off. These guys tore it up at Langerado this year! $12.99

The latest additions to the 2007 FloydFest artist roster.

Other recent additions include Klezmer-punk sensation Golem , Beck's old buddy Paleface , and legendary NE fiddler John Specker (with his two lovely daughters). Check out the performer page for a preview of the schedule! A liminted number of RV spaces are still available in the newly added Chateau Morissette satellite RV campground, located just 1m from the festival site, with a complementary shuttle running all weekend. Be a part of this new start-up community! And
while lots of things are growing and changing this season, other things
aren't - like our colors. FloydFest has always been true-blue, of
course, but it's also green. That's not changing. FloydFest has a
singular committment to conscientious festivarianism, and FF attendees
are a conscientious bunch. Our collective committment to 'keep the
scene clean' makes the FloydFest grounds about the cleanest you'll find
at an event it's size. We recycle, always have, and this year we'll be
composting the food vendor waste materials. Our Global Village area
features on-going information and demonstrations on biodiesel and solar
power.

~ WE are all visitors on this planet. We are all here for ninety, a hundred years at most. During that period we must try to do something good, something useful with our lives. Try to be at peace with yourself and help others share that peace. If you contribute to other people's happiness, you will find the true goal, the true meaning of life. ~

OurStage is the only 100% democratic competition where the fans decide who's best in emerging music and film. Artists upload music and compete in monthly competitions. Fans visit OurStage.com and judge the music. Fan-favorite artists move on to the next round.

Hosting regional showcases throughout ten Midwestern cities, the Cosmic Break Tour offers independent and emerging artists the chance for a paid performance slot at this summer's event as decided by fans voting.  Other showcases take place throughout April and early May in Sioux Falls, St. Louis, Fargo, Omaha, Iowa City, Milwaukee, Chicago, Duluth and then again in Minneapolis.

For those artists living outside these regions wishing to apply, three Cosmic Break slots will be chosen from performers applying nationwide. Complete details and music submission information can be found at http://www.ourstage.com/go/10KLF.

Located off the beaten path in Minnesota's pristine North Country, the festival's over 600 acres of unspoiled lakeside and forest camping provide an unusually tranquil and natural festival setting. Shorter lines and more personal space create a relaxed and friendly atmosphere that lasts all weekend long.

The 10,000 Lakes Festival continues the 'Help Us Help' campaign in 2008, an initiative giving back to the community through matching each dollar donated by patrons at online ticketing checkout. Proceeds go directly to worthy charities, split evenly to organizations including: the Becker County Humane Society, The Rex Foundation, Conscious Alliance, Detroit Lakes Public Schools and more.

Discounted festival tickets, campground reservations and complete festival details are now available online at www.10KLF.com. New in 2008, multiple festival ticket packages now exist, including an option to secure rare festival poster artwork bundled with event tickets with the 10KLF Jim Pollock Poster Package, featuring two VIP passes, a VIP campground vehicle reservation and two limited edition Pollock 10KLF prints only available through this package deal.

It’s almost time for festival season here in North East Ohio’s very own Nelson Ledges Quarry Park! This is the 13th season under the stewardship of Evan Kelly and it may be the best ever!

I want to thank all those new friends from across the country that discovered NLQP last year, it was wonderful to see new faces!  We have fifteen music festivals already scheduled for 2008, so now is the time to mark your calendars and prepare for a great summer of wonderful music and fun!

Nelson Ledges Quarry Park is a gorgeous spot highlighted by a spring fed quarry that is great for swimming, rafting, and scuba diving.  You can hike, camp in 250 acres of delightfully shady woods, fish, bike, enjoy nature, play basketball, send the kids to the playground, and check out the honey bees and organic gardens.  Evan and his family and staff do a wonderful job keeping this wonder of nature a delightful place to go see live music and enjoy the great outdoors.  This scenic park is open for camping and swimming all the time, and is just a great place to hang out and relax.   The quarry is a glacial deposit rich in minerals, stone, earth and clear waters and is a high-point and known magnetic, energy vortex.   The big project last year was to aerate the quarry to keep the sediment down and the water crystal clear and fresh…I can not wait to go swimming this year!  It’s a stunningly intimate outdoor music venue that is family friendly and everyone is a VIP.

Some great music will be played by old friends and new this year at the Ledges.  Some of our special guests include:  Mickey Hart Band with Steve Kimock, George Porter and Jen Durkin; moe; George Clinton and P-Funk; Wookiefoot;  David Gans; Muruga Booker; Buckethead;  The New Mastersounds; Donna & The Tricksters; Boombox, Dark Star Orchestra; Wavy Gravy;  Several Species; Kashmir; Mr. Blotto; The Recipe; and The Pnuma Trio.   Of course, all the great Ohio-grown bands will also play like Ekoostik Hookah; Sultans of Bing; Burning River Band; Water Band; Willy Mac Music; JiMiller Band; The Groove Prophets; Blonde Boy Grunt & The Groans; Carlos Jones & The P.L.U.S. Band; The Chatfield Boys; and Greenleif.  There are so many other great artists expected this summer that I would encourage you to check out the web site soon to start planning your trips!  In addition to all the great music and nature, there will be repeat performances by Ohio Burn Unit on the beach, late night movies, fantastic light and laser shows by Solar Fire, video screens by Garbaz, skydivers and fireworks!

If you have not been to Nelson Ledges Quarry Park yet, let this season be your first of many trips here.  The prices are extremely reasonable and the crowd is always wonderful.   We are a family friendly park with entertainment for all ages.  Come for the music and stay for the fun!!
