Turbine

Hailing from New York City, Turbine has been quickly attracting audiences who have come to expect the unexpected.

From Bonnaroo to the 10,000 Lakes Festival, Turbine has quickly gained a devoted audience who have come to expect the unexpected. Chosen by Relix Magazine as “Artists on the Verge", they can scratch like a DJ with their harmonicas, turn an electric guitar into a silver fiddle, and sing three-part harmonies over wild, high-energy sci-fi rock soundscapes.

Hailing from New York City, Turbine has graced the stage at almost every major festival across the country including Bonnaroo, Wakarusa, 10K Lakes, Gathering of the Vibes, and Telluride Nightgrass just to name a few. They have also been fortunate enough to perform with many influential bands including Del McCoury Band, Benevento-Russo Duo, and moe.

Playing the harmonica and acoustic guitar at the same time, Ryan Rightmire has rocketed this classic folk combo into the 21st century. He manipulates effects that can turn his harmonica into an organ, and even a turntable. Now endorsed by Hohner, Ryan has been to known to wow audiences with his ability to play the harmonica with a balloon. Jeremy Hilliard, in addition to being a prolific songwriter, brings an explosive electric guitar style steeped in the blues and roots traditions of the south. Jeremy moved to NYC from Virginia to pursue a music career, and happened to move next door to Ryan. They soon formed Turbine as a duo, and released their first album “Don’t Mind if I Should.” After adding a rhythm section including Justin Kimmel on bass they recorded “Reward” to critical praise. With Justin’s ability to seamlessly play any style and sing, their three-part harmonies became a signature aspect of their new songwriting style. Their newest member, Octavio Salman, was born in El Salvador and brings a fiery approach to the drums that you’ll just have to see to believe.

In 2010 Turbine released its first official live album. It includes eight tracks highlighting their 2009 Summer Tour. Spanning their first two albums, as well as a sneak peak into their forthcoming studio release, this live document allows new listeners to hear what their fans have known for some time.. these songs, much like their makers, are hard to forget!

New Monsoon

New Monsoon represents the best of the San Francisco jam scene. Formed during the El Nino rains of Northern California in the late 90's, this band has distilled their original sound with top-flight musicianship, tireless live performing and a thoroughly open-minded musical perspective.

NM's unique style blends free-flying rock with acoustic stylings, tight vocal harmonies and lyrical songcraft. With a fearless pioneering spirit, they've become one of the most cutting edge bands on the scene today.

"New Monsoon was formed around Bo Carper's acoustic finger-style picking and the sharp, driving leads of electric guitarist Jeff Miller. The interplay of warm acoustic tones and charged electric bite-born from a shared love of Led Zeppelin III-has remained at the heart of its sound through various line-up changes, now a streamlined quintet with Phil Ferlino (keyboards), Marshall Harrell (bass) and Sean Hutchinson (drums). New Monsoon is built on the pillars of the 60's SF scene-a healthy dose of improvisation, a psychedelic character and a broad stylistic reach-without expressly emulating anyone" - Dennis Cook, Relix Magazine

"They have a collective power that comes off as a real unified force on stage..It's not just a band, you know? It's something transcendental" -Michael Shrieve

New Monsoon has shared the stage with heavyweight guests Mike Stern (Miles Davis), the late, great Martin Fierro (Zero, Legion of Mary), Steve Kimock, and Tim Carbone (Railroad Earth), to name a few. They've toured with String Cheese Incident, Michael Franti and Spearhead, Umphrey's McGee (Big Summer Classic Tour), supported Moe, The Wailers, etc and are a featured headliner in venues such as the Fillmore (SF), Gothic Theater (Denver), and Warehouse Live (Houston). They are also a perennial favorite of the festival circuit including marquee festivals like Bonnaroo, Wakarusa, Langerado, High Sierra, Telluride Bluegrass, Austin City Limits and many others.

The band's quality associations continue with their recorded output. 2007's "V" was produced by longtime Grateful Dead sound engineer John Cutler, and 2005's "The Sound" was helmed by original Santana percussionist Michael Shrieve and Paul Kimble (Grant Lee Buffalo, Luna).

"Fluid flights emerge from many of the album's (New Monsoon V) best tracks-vivid songwriting fuseed with reemerging themes of search and discovery-they hang humbly from well-fortified compositions." -Jamie Lee, Relix Magazine

"This diverse cast of coconspirators speaks to the range and simmering possibilities within New Monsoon's framework, a creative space that embraces instrumentals as well as dead solid songcraft. They are comfortable with complex, genre-scuttling wordless fare that blends World music with heavy metal and Nashville pickin' but is equally at home with road tales that drag us to "Alaska" or up "On The Sun" with words that echo the encompassing good will and philosophy of Robert Hunter and Jerry Garcia." -Dennis Cook

Their new album, aptly titled "New Monsoon Live," was recorded during an epic 3 night run in Texas last September. Building upon their most successful studio album to date, "New Monsoon V," this live two-CD set is the band's first official release from the current 5-piece line-up, and their first live album since 2004. New Monsoon Live captures the band reaching one of their highest emotional, technical, and musical peaks.

"New Monsoon Live is defined by its powerful melodic sense and commitment to the spirit of the songs. The jam or solo always serves the song, not the other way around. There is no aimless noodling to be found here, no wasted notes." -Rob Johnson, Hittin' the Note

Derek Trucks Band to tour with Santana

trucks2.jpg
The Derek Trucks Band will tour this spring with Santana! Derek has gotten to know Carlos over the last few years and the two share a lot of musical interests and influences. They're both excited to spend time together on the road and we can't wait for the tour!

Max Allen Band

The Max Allen Band has been described as a “stunningly full-sounding trio” whose music is a high energy combination of jazz, blues, funk and rock.

Allen’s strong vocals and ability to compose and perform stellar guitar-driven tracks has garnered praise and has earned him comparisons to guitar legends SRV, Eric Clapton, John Scofield and Trey Anastasio. To no surprise, each of these legends has influenced his playing since he first picked up the guitar at 8-years old. Live performances are laced with improvisation and experimentation and feature Allen's strong vocals and ability to perform captivating lead and rhythm guitar parts.  The MAB is a “must see” and “must hear” band.  Max's last two albums, Earthwalker and That's Why each provide a highly enjoyable and solid variety of music.

Dread Clampitt

Dread Clampitt formed in 2002 with Kyle Ogle (guitar, vocals) and Balder Saunders (mandolin, vocals) making music on the front porch of their Grayton Beach, FL trailer, with Justin Price-Rees (fiddle, vocals) joining the band shortly thereafter.

Kenny Oliverio (upright bass, vocals) is the newest addition to the band, playing upright bass; he fills the shoes of Duke Bardwell (former bass player for Elvis Presley) who was very instrumental in getting Dread Clampitt where they are today. Helping to mold the music and lives of the guys, they call him the Godfather. The music, dubbed "hipbilly" by Balder Saunders, combines Bluegrass, Blues, Rock & Roll, Louisiana Bayou Funk & Swamp music with a heavy reliance on Jazz rhythms. It's a difficult sound to describe, so we suggest taking a minute to listen to what they have to offer. The lyrics are clever and often heartfelt. They combine a mixture of humor with a real outlook at the world and the people and places around them.
