Yo Mama's Big Fat Booty Band

Yo Mama's Big Fat Booty Band

When the Booty Band hits the stage, everybody dances! These seven guys from Asheville, NC mix triumphant horns, laid-back grooves, and heavy backbeats to encompass many styles of music that can only be described as one… Bounce Music. The swarms of swaying bodies at their shows testify to their thick thump and boundless energy. The Booty Band cuts to the core of what great live music is all about: having fun and feeling good. Their energy is contagious and instantly transforms the average night out into an evening to remember.

Interview with Yo Mama's Big Fat Booty Band

bootyint.jpg
Yo Mama's Big Fat Booty Band was just one of the many acts performing at this year’s first annual Capitol City Carnival. I had a chance to chat with them for a bit inside their hospitality tent. Along with the performing musicians, carny acts, burlesque and freak shows, CCC also offered beer tasting tents from 50 of the countries (and Europe's) best microbreweries. So by the time this interview took place early Saturday evening everyone involved had been enjoying all the fine beer the three day festival had to offer. So I apologize that some of these answers and questions tend to stray way out in left field. I blame my impediment on the Magic Hat # 9.

Asheville Music Jamboree - June 1-3, 2007 - Take 2

amajamicon.jpg
The Asheville Music Jamboree at Deerfields (NC) was a sweet treat to welcome festival season. This Eco-Conscious, Kid Friendly adventure in the beautiful hills of North Carolina was an excellent pot of roots rock music stew, from the Carolina mountain music to the roots of Jamaica, through to the revolutionary fusions of Rastagrass Appalachian Reggae and rock.

Asheville Music Jamboree - June 1-3, 2007 - Take 1

As I sit at my computer and download the photographs my family and I had taken over the weekend, I cannot help but reminisce about those wonderful days in the North Carolina Mountains. As a volunteer, my three children and I arrived on Thursday and set up camp in what was to become the “family camping” area. By Friday afternoon this small wooded glen was filled up with wonderful families, whose children became fast friends, playing endless games of tag and exploring. And what exploring there was! On our first day we found several wonderful places to swim (there were two lakes) and a wonderful babbling brook to wade in. The water was cold, yet refreshing. It was a nice treat after getting all sweaty setting up camp.
