New Additions:

bridge4thThe Bridge - Blind Man's Hill CD - The steady rollin' rhythms on Blind Man's Hill cut like a knife through warm butter. One part New Orleans rhythms, one part southern country soul and yet another earthy rock 'n' roll, The Bridge write timeless songs that resonate with Americana themes of locomotives, moonshine, mason jars, ramblin', gamblin' and carnival barkers. Playing upwards of 250 shows a year, including festivals like Gathering Of The Vibes, Mountain Jam, Camp Bisco and Moe Down, The Bridge have built a fanatic audience through a growing grassroots buzz that attracts new fans with every performance. The Bridge's Blind Man's Hill is the kind of finely crafted long-player that will cross the band over to an even wider audience and further establish their reputation as modern successors to artists such as The Grateful Dead, Little Feat and The Radiators. $14.98

jhthJimmy Herring - Lifeboat CD - The first solo album from guitar phenomenon Jimmy Herring, known for his amazing guitar work with the Allman Brothers, The Dead, Phil Lesh and Friends, Aquarium Rescue Unit, Project Z, Frogwings, Jazz is Dead and many more. Currently, he's holding down the lead guitar chair for Widespread Panic. Lifeboat features A-list musicians Oteil Burbridge (Allman Brothers) on bass, Jeff Sipe (Jonas Hellborg/Shawn Lane, Aquarium Rescue Unit) on drums, and Kofi Burbridge (Derek Trucks Band) on flute and keyboards. Joining the core line up as special guests are Derek Trucks on slide guitar, Greg Osby on saxophones, Ike Stubblefield on organ, Matt Slocum on the clavinet and Bobby Lee Rodgers on guitar. Lifeboat is a wide-ranging work that encompasses various musical genres, including rock, jam, jazz and blues. From foot stomping southern-flavored rockers to modern bop and fusion to a cover of the Wayne Shorter composition "Lost" and melodic pieces full of subtlety and nuance, the music of Lifeboat allows Jimmy to express a full-range of emotions through his guitar. $15.99

dso3thDark Star Orchestra - Ithaca 30 Years Later (3 CDs) - This 3-CD set captures Dark Star Orchestra recreating one of the most well known shows in The Grateful Dead's long history. The 5/8/77 Cornell show is lovingly re-imagined exactly 30 years to the day after it happened, and in the very town in which it took place, with special unique setlist embellishments by DSO. Although known for their faithful replication of The Grateful Dead sound, this is by no means a by-the-numbers copy of the original show. "We like to take the set list and use it as a frame over which we lay our own patchwork of improvisation," says DSO guitarist Rob Eaton. The Grateful Dead Songs are there, the Grateful Dead sound is there, but the rest is distinctively DSO. Taped live as it happened, this set is a must-have for fans of The Grateful Dead and Dark Star Orchestra. $24.99

dsodvd2thDark Star Orchestra - Ithaca 30 Years Later (2 DVDs) - This 2-DVD set captures Dark Star Orchestra recreating one of the most well known shows in The Grateful Dead's long history. Videotaped live as it happened by a multi-camera crew, this video is a must-see for fans of The Grateful Dead and Dark Star Orchestra. $24.99

rodgabthRodrigo y Gabriela LP - 180-gram vinyl LP version. Also includes the full album on CD. On their 2006 self-titled album, Rodrigo y Gabriela offer up a fierce set of acoustic instrumentals that garnered the Mexican guitar duo international attention. Technically accomplished, playful, and emotive, these tracks work in the flamenco and folk vernaculars while reverberating with rock energy, as revealed on the fleet-fingered "Tamacun" and the highly percussive "Diablo Rojo." However, the real showstoppers are the pair's excellent covers of Metallica's "Orion" and Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven," which both honor the hard-rock originals, and resonate with impressive added flourishes. $19.99

xmasrockthVarious Artists - Southern Rock Christmas CD - How difficult would it be for a classic rock fan to dig the Phil Spector-inspired "Jingle Bell Rock" by 38 Special or to head-bop to George Thorogood's "Rock and Roll Christmas," or twist (yes, twist) to Foghat's "All I Want for Christmas Is You," sounding like they're invoking the very spirit of Roy Orbison? It wouldn't be difficult at all. Then get another eggnog and toast Steve Morse's uplifting instrumental version of "Joy to the World," the hip-shaking beat of "Winter Wonderland" by the Fabulous Thunderbirds, and the aptly named "Christmas Blues" by Canned Heat. The album's closing track is a warm, up-tempo version of "Silent Night" by Elvin Bishop. There's enough rocking holiday fare here for those who like their rock aged and Southern fried. $11.99

wmxmasthWynton Marsalis - Crescent City Christmas Card CD - Christmas jazz albums come and go with each end-of-year holiday season. And while they may make for good soundtracks to that holiday spirit, rarely do they stand up as much more than that, and certainly not as anything approaching a serious listen. While the material here may be rendered in the familiar Christmas spirit of good cheer (check out Wynton Marsalis on the back cover with mismatched green and red socks decking out his white suit), and the songs are in the familiar Christian tradition of the holiday, the arrangements are fresh and are delivered with memorable turns on "Silent Night" by opera diva Kathleen Battle, and on "Sleigh Ride" by Jon Hendricks. The playing is spirited and the material is dealt with in a manner suggesting great care in both delivery and arrangement. $8.99

zappastage4thFrank Zappa - You Can't Do That On Stage Anymore Vol. 4 (2 CDs) - YCDTOSA Vol. 4 was released in 1991, with recordings ranging from 1969 to 1988. First time appearance for 11 songs. Because of the huge time span, there's an enormous list of musicians, including FZ on lead guitar & vocals, Captain Beefheart (handling vocals and harmonica on "The Torture Never Stops"), the mid-70's band, the '79 band, the `82 band, the `84 band, the `88 band, and even 2 Mothers tracks from 1969 ("You Call That Music?" and "Tiny Sick Tears") -- Lowell George appears on both. Archie Shepp guests on tenor sax solo on "Let's Move To Cleveland" from 1984 (Amherst MA). There's also a smelly-beard routine involving George Duke; a "Montana" that segues two versions from 12 years apart; and a version of "Stevie's Spanking" with Steve Vai playing one of his best solos, doubtlessly inspired by the events described in the lyric. $17.99

tdk5thTiedye Keith - Tiedye Black: Thursday's at TDK's CD - Tiedye Keith is excited to announce his latest CD - Tiedye Black's Thursday's at TDK's - a co-production between Tiedye Keith and Vernon Ice Black. It's a collection of toe tappers and finger snappers in a traditional jazz quartet style that will also appeal to jam band and jazz fusion enthusiasts. Recorded over several Thursdays, the Tiedye Black sessions were a musical sanctuary in the midst of the hectic lives of working musicians, like a weekly musical summer BBQ. "Kerlazzo," an original TDK creation, showcases the percussion work of Karl Perazzo, Carlos Santana's world famous percussionist. Tiedye Keith's coterie of musicians on Tiedye Black includes Vernon Ice Black, Tony Lindsay, Curtis Ohlson, Karl Perazzo, and many more. $12.00

h4hthHymn For Her - Year of the Golden Pig CD - A duo that takes you over the stars and sands, playing soul-scaping music with voices and hands. A variety of stringed instruments and chords of vocals intertwine in a way that captivates and mesmerizes. Hymn for Her is a story of two musicians who took a break from touring with their band (Maggi, Pierce and EJ) and traveled up to Maine to write a book. It wasn't long before cabin fever set in. Thus, a baby was conceived and a band was born (they're still working on the book). In the year of The Golden Pig, Spring 2007, their baby was born and the duo started recording an album. They stripped down to the bare necessities: two acoustic instruments and two voices, keeping it as true to their live performance as possible. Hymn for Her bring to you their debut CD, Year of the Golden Pig! $11.00

seunthSeun Kuti - Seun Kuti & Fela's Egypt 80 CD - Seun Kuti is the son of Fela Kuti, Africa's greatest musician and inventor of Afrobeat. From the opening bars of this album, ideas, words, and notes whiz about with abandon. The Afrobeat magic is set in motion while the delirious, unrelenting groove machine carries us away. For this debut album and full North American summer tour, Seun is leading the legendary Egypt 80 orchestra, his father's last band. Egypt 80 have been together for over 2 decades and it shows in every note, from the cohesion and absolutely mesmerizing precision of the rhythmic reflexes down to the thousandth of a second that makes their ultra-syncopated polyphony the perfect 'swing' model. $14.99

ttreethTree of Music T-Shirt - This white cotton t-shirt with colored neck and sleeve rings features gorgeous "Tree of Music in a Land of Enchantment" artwork by Brian Zickafoose. You can choose Kelly Green or Sky Blue rings, and the different choices make different parts of the artwork pop! Available in sizes Small up to XXL. $17.00

Upon receiving our order of the new G. Love and Special Sauce album, we were surprised to see that it shipped with some bonus discs. The 4-song acoustic EP is limited, and when they're gone they're gone, so call for availability!
