Whitewater Ramble - Covering Some Territory: Live from the Big Sky Vol 2 CD Limited Edition - Described as "High-Octane Rocky Mountain DanceGrass", WhiteWater Ramble uses a simple recipe to craft it's sound: start with bluegrass instrumentation, add drums, and finish with a boundary-less approach to grassing-up everything from disco house grooves to roots and Americana. The Colorado-bred quintet combines the elements of Mandolin, Fiddle, Acoustic Guitar, Upright Bass, Drums and Vocals to explore the musical boundaries of multiple genres to fuel their own mixture of original music and innovative cover song interpretations. Whether playing an intimate encore, acoustic and unplugged in the crowd, or surfing on top of the upright bass, WhiteWater Ramble delivers a powerful and memorable live performance.
Also now in stock: Whitewater Ramble - Live from the Big Sky CD, Whitewater Ramble - All Night Drive CD
John Butler - Tin Shed Tales (2 live CDs) - Tin Shed Tales is the new 2CD live and solo album from John Butler. Recorded on his solo/acoustic tour of Australia throughout March and April 2012.
Sol Driven Train - Watermelon CD - Sol Driven Train's music weaves through genres like images in a Tom Robbins paragraph. The band's sonic schizophrenia absorbs songwriting influences like John Prine and Paul Simon, afrocaribbean rhythmic explorations, and funky New Orleans-style brass into earnest songs of life, love, loss, and long johns. The versatile 5-piece band, based in Charleston, SC, features rotating lead vocalists, and multi-instrumental talent spread across horns, strings, and percussion. Combining rich varieties of American pop and folk music into their own port-town sound, Sol Driven Train has carved out a unique musical identity within the burgeoning roots music scene.
Del McCoury and David Grisman - Del & Dawg CD - David Grisman met Del McCoury at the first show Del ever played (on banjo) with Bill Monroe in the spring of 1963 at New York University in Greenwich Village. Three years later, Del & Dawg played their first gig together in Troy, NY at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. They both celebrated the arrival of first-born sons, Monroe Grisman and Ronnie McCoury, within a month of each other.
This unique collection of bluegrass classics, made at two Dawg studio jam sessions in the 1990s, celebrates the nearly 50-year bluegrass friendship that these two legendary musicians have shared.

Sol Driven Train - Underdog CD - This 10-song collection strives to capture the energy of this Charleston, SC band's dynamic live show while serving as a culmination of their years together on the road and in the studio. The result is Sol Driven Train's most concise and song-oriented album to date. Averaging 150 live dates per year, Sol Driven Train will support the release of Underdog with a heavy 2013 schedule of festival, club, and radio appearances.
Fully funded with fan support through Kickstarter and recorded at Charleston Sound, Underdog features a cast of Charleston guest musicians including 2012 American Idol finalist Elise Testone. The album explores the diverse components of sounds found in American roots music; from the gritty guitar rock licks of the opening title track, and the blues-tinged swing of "Changed Mind" and "I Do Declare," to the lightheared, observational lyrics laden with big brass hooks of "Guest List," "Fuego Fuego, and "Lady from Chiang Mai."
Underdog is laced with consistent themes of "striving for balance within ourselves and our relationships at home," says co-frontman and guitarist Joel Timmons. "The pursuit of our collective musical dreams and the need to cultivate healthy relationships and lifestyles at home are at the heart of many of the songs on Underdog. Struggle, spiritual growth, love, and longing are all intertwined and influenced the writing on this new album. We're proud of the result of these challenges and we hope to inspire the underdog within every listener."

HGMN Staff's Favorites of 2012:
LEE: Favorite shows: BIG Something Costume Ball 10/27/2012 - Lincoln Theatre - Raleigh, NC. I saw this band more than any other in 2012 and this performance was one of the many highlights. Their set had an outer space theme. The band was wearing astronaut suits, stage was decorated like a spaceship, visuals and audio samples all played on the theme throughout the show. They busted out new covers to complement the theme like Intergalactic (Beastie Boys), Robot Rock (Daft Punk), Cosmic Girl (Jamiroquai) & Subterranean Homesick Alien (Radiohead).
