YARNYarn - Leftovers Volume 2 CD - Brooklyn-based Americana/Alt-Country band Yarn's sound owes as much to Gram Parsons and Earl Scruggs as to Jerry Garcia and Exile On Main Street-era Rolling Stones. Following in a fine tradition that includes forward thinking roots bands like The Flying Burrito Brothers and New Riders of The Purple Sage, Yarn weaves roots music idioms into a fresh sound that turns on hipsters and fans of country music alike, with technically impressive song-crafting and universal tales from the road of life.

Phish - Star Lake DVDsPhish - Star Lake 98 (2 DVDs) - All new 2-DVD set, recorded live on August 11, 1998 at Star Lake Amphitheatre in Burgettstown, Pennsylvania. The Star Lake 98 show was the 20th of summer to display the loose, experimental vibe of a tour that began in Europe and jumped to the United States enroute to the summer's ending Lemonwheel festival.

"Star Lake 98" is the only full video show available in the Archives from Phish's Summer 1998 tour. The 2-DVD set was created from archival VHS videotapes of the 3-camera lawn screen feed. The audio was mixed from multi-track masters in stereo PCM and Dolby Digital 5.1 surround (aspect Ratio 4:3, regions 1-6 NTSC) and clocks in at just about 2 hours and 50 minutes.

The introduction of a never-before-played cover each night earned the tour the nickname "the summer of covers" from fans and band alike and Star Lake's contribution was "Trench Town Rock." Star Lake also saw the return of "Time Loves A Hero" which was played for the first time in a decade and segued out of a sultry "Wolfman's Brother." An extended "Fee" extro and hot renditions of "Maze" and "Reba" set the stage for set II's super-swinging, ethereal "Runaway Jim" and the unusual pairing of "Meat" > "Limb By Limb". Local flavor of the Commonwealth was provided by "Bittersweet Motel" (the title of the Phish documentary recorded during the Europe dates) and "Wilson," King of Prussia.

Hot TunaHot Tuna - Live at New Orleans House CD - The little blues band-within-a-band side project of Jefferson Airplane's Jack Casady and Jorma Kaukonen outlasted the parent band, of course, and continues on to this day, but here s a priceless opportunity to hear a collection of completely unreleased performances from the duo's early days in super high fidelity (other recordings from this multi-night engagement at Berkeley's New Orleans House were actually used for the debut Hot Tuna album)! And the set list? Practically a Hot Tuna greatest hits with some nods to the Deadheads among us! 68 minutes! This re-release was originally issued in 2010 on another label.

King for a Day - Fortress CDKing for a Day - Fortress CD - King For A Day, a Connecticut based original blues/rock band, has just released their first full length CD, entitled "Fortress". Fortress is a brand new 13 song disc that features powerhouse lead vocalist and songwriter Dan Labich, a mainstay in the CT music scene. Bassist Benj LeFevre from Deep Banana Blackout, guitarist Randy Funke from The Grapes of Vaudevillian Fantasy, as well as veteran freelance drummer Scott Lebish round out the quartet. This new CD is a mix of hard drivin' rock, soulful and heartfelt ballads, as well as mid tempo new classic rock style songs. The power and richness of Danny's vocals are equally matched by Randy Funke's raging guitar, layering a tapestry of sonic greatness that is both inventive and familiar at the same time. Benj and Scott hold down the bottom with solid authority, never letting the listener forget that the low end is where it's at! "Fortress" is a great collection of fresh original rock music, be sure to turn it up!

Big Daddy Love - To the Mountain CDBig Daddy Love - To the Mountain CD - To The Mountain is an album in the truest sense--a carefully crafted journey of songs--that has received emphatic and heartfelt reviews from reviewers throughout the region and far beyond. "...The thing is, this all works together well, and it flows as album -- remember those, where all the songs work together to the betterment of the total experience -- not just some isolated downloaded track on your playlist. This is a great disc...Give Big Daddy Love the chance and I'll bet they'll win you over." (Gary Hill, Music Street Journal). From across the pond, a reviewer in Belgium wrote "...[if you are] a fan of The Allman Brothers Band or Drive-By Truckers, but you are open to bluegrass elements, then this CD really is a must." Back home in the mountains, another writer said "From start to finish, To The Mountain is a captivating album that alludes to a dynamic live show. If the musicians dabble in a variety of styles it's only because, well, they can. And certain elements -- a tightly-coiled energy always threatening to explode within each song, a choice group of collaborators, flawless musicianship and Smith's compelling vocals -- provide a palpable thread throughout." (Alli Marshall, Mountain Xpress). Picked up as a favorite spin by Americana and AAA radio stations throughout the region, including taste-maker WNCW in Spindale, NC, To The Mountain is a snapshot of a young band realizing the power of their vision, stretching the boundaries of their influences while celebrating their Appalachian roots.

Hobo Nephews of Uncle Frank - Travelling Show CD/DVD Hobo Nephews of Uncle Frank - Travelling Show CD/DVDHobo Nephews of Uncle Frank - Travelling Show CD/DVD- Brothers Teague and Ian Alexy's first two albums placed them firmly among the pioneers of the impressive roots music resurgence going on in Minnesota. Both well-respected singer/songwriters, Teague is practically a one man band stomping his feet, banging out rhythm guitar and blowing soulful blues on the harmonica around his neck while Ian is a foot stomping guitar ace on both melodic acoustic and rowdy, rock n' roll electric. On their new album Traveling Show, Hobo Nephews of Uncle Frank (the Alexy brothers alias) have guests as far ranging as the mandolin, banjo and fiddle of frequent collaborators Trampled By Turtles, to the pristine pedal steel of John Graboff (Ryan Adams and The Cardinals), to the organ wizardry of Marco Benevento who plays on three tracks. Traveling Show includes a DVD of the 60-minute film Moments and Truths documenting the making of the album in Brooklyn, NY as well as sights and sounds from their tours across the country. Directed by Joshua Priestley, the film is an up close and personal look at a creative and talented band paving their own way through the independent music world.

Jerry Garcia & Howard Wales - Hooteroll? CDJerry Garcia & Howard Wales - Hooteroll? CD - Keyboardist Howard Wales and guitarist Jerry Garcia teamed up often in the early 1970's, holding jam sessions at nearby clubs and recording this largely ignored studio album. The music on Hooteroll? is a natural extension of the sublime jazz-fusion that had begun to change jazz music. This is psychedelic, interstellar rock with healthy doses of funk, jazz, and 70's style soul. Features John Kahn on bass, Bill Vitt on drums, and Martin Fierro on sax/flute. A classic California lineup and an album that you won't believe you missed!

* A classic, this record is Jerry Garcia's first non-Grateful Dead work!
* Special digipak reissue never available before in America features stunning art by Mati Klarwein.
* Hooteroll? shows early-era Dead influence, yet incorporates the years of experience accrued by Garcia. Some very unique music is created in this session, and lets the listener see how Garcia could branch out to do something different--more experimental, more off-the-cuff, and more spontaneous.
* Using a seven-piece band and implementing organs, sax, trumpet, guitars, bass, and drums, kaleidoscopic musical waves and journeys combine to make a very diverse and jam-filled record.

Dickey Betts & Great Southern - 30 Years of Southern Rock (2 CDs)Dickey Betts & Great Southern - 30 Years of Southern Rock (2 CDs) - First time on CD for these live recordings from 1978 and 2008. Dickey Betts and Great Southern were the third highlight at the Rockpalast Festival on March 4th/5th, 1978. On those evenings they played for the first time in Europe in front of an enthusiastic audience at the Gruga-Halle in Essen/Germany and millions of viewers on television. Dickey Betts is not an unknown to those who are familiar with American Rock music. He was one of the original members of the Allman Brothers Band and formed his own band Great Southern in 1976. Nowadays, Dickey Betts and Great Southern are considered to be one of the most important and influential Southern Rock bands of all time. 2009.

Jackie Greene - Till the Light Comes CDJackie Greene - Till the Light Comes CD - Back from his most extensive tour to date, hitting up all the festivals, Jackie Greene delivers another gem proving his title 'Prince of Americana' more relevant than ever. Jackie steps out with maturity and soul on this incredible journey of song confirming that 'Mr. Next Big Thing'... is here, and now! Says Ben Fong Torres, of Rolling Stone Magazine fame '......... Jackie is a sensational rocker.......not to be missed'.
