Floydfest 2012

Floydfest 2012
The festival featured eight stages of eclectic musical performances and worldly arts and crafts, all set in the gorgeous, lush mountains of southern Virginia.

Nearly every genre of music is represented at FloydFest, and all that variety is a good thing. Headliners such as Bruce Hornsby and the Noisemakers, Ricky Scaggs and Kentucky Thunder, Jackson Browne, Alison Krauss and Union Station, Michael Franti and Spearhead, The Sam Bush Band, Drive-By Truckers, Matisyahu, Leftover Salmon, SOJA, Sara Watkins, Brandi Carlile, and Dawes were some of the “must-sees”. It was a delightful, energy-infused, 5 day roller coaster ride of music that never dipped below fabulous.

New Additions:

Phish - At the Roxy (8 CD Box Set) - 8-CD box set showcasing fully mastered soundboard recordings of three complete shows, with six sets of music, featuring seventy-eight unique songs with three special guests. Recorded Live February 19th, 20th and 21st, 1993, this run at the intimate Roxy Theatre in Atlanta, Georgia set the stage for many classic celebrations to follow. With the second show's near-instant legendary status cemented among fans due largely to a non-stop thriller of a second set which included feats of rock and roll greatness, including a sit-in by a spurious Gene Simmons, At The Roxy captures a magical moment for Phish and their audience during a period of peak songwriting and experimentation. $49.98

The Doors - Live at The Matrix (2 CDs) - The Doors were still working on arrangements and feeling out their moves when they played the Matrix Club in San Francisco for four nights in March, 1967, just two months after the release of their revolutionary self-titled debut album. These two seminal gigs were captured on tape but were previously unreleased until this new two disc set. Live at the Matrix features over two hours of performances from the legendary band led by lead singer Jim Morrison. $24.98

Alison Krauss - A Hundred Miles or More: Live From the Tracking Room DVD - A Hundred Miles or More: Live From The Tracking Room features Alison Krauss, one of the purest and most original voices in American music, performing songs from her critically acclaimed solo album A Hundred Miles or More: A Collection with members of her highly-regarded band Union Station and special guest musicians. One of the stand out features of this DVD is the only live performance of the country smash hit duet "Whiskey Lullaby" with country superstar Brad Paisley. It also features memorable duets with James Taylor, British rocker John Waite, and an infectious take on "Sawing on the Strings" with bluegrass guitar legend Tony Rice and musicians Sam Bush and Stuart Duncan joining Union Station. $19.99

Zac Brown Band - The Foundation CD - Playing upwards of 200 dates a year, more than 2,500 shows in their career and selling more than 20,000 CDs independently, Zac Brown Band has only begun its ascent. The band's aggressive touring has helped it develop a fanatical grassroots following by winning over believers one person at a time. Driven by awe-inspiring musicianship, skillful songwriting and a dynamic live show that inspires word-of-mouth buzz, Zac Brown Band is already embraced by audiences who sing along with every word. $14.99
