Jerry Garcia & David Grisman - The Thrill Returns CD
Of all the musical side-projects taken on by Grateful Dead stalwart Jerry Garcia across his career, one of the finest and most enduring was his work with bluegrass outfit, Old & In The Way. Formed in 1973 by Garcia (banjo, vocals) alongside Peter Rowan (guitar, vocals), Vassar Clements (fiddle), David Grisman (mandolin, vocals), and John Kahn (string bass), the group put out their debut record in 1975 and toured sporadically from then on. In 1991 Garcia and Grisman released a self-titled album together, and went out on the road as a duo for the first time in a decade. On February 2nd the pair played at San Francisco's Warfield Theatre for a dynamic performance which included a number of cuts from their recently release record plus a number of covers, including a quite extraordinary version of Miles Davis' 'So What'.
