John McLaughlin & the 4th Dimension - Now Here This CD - McLaughlin's latest creative venture with The 4th Dimension, reflects a slight, yet significant, alteration of the dynamic, specifically the recruitment of powerhouse Indian drummer Ranjit Barot. Cameroon-born/Paris-resident bassist Etienne M'Bappe is back from To the One, as is keyboardist/drummer Gary Husband. This 8-track set of McLaughlin originals testifies to the guitarist's decades-long fascination with Indian music, through his effortless virtuosity, and relentless lyricism, even when the guitarist is shredding at near-light speed.

As John himself simply states, "Now Here This is the culmination of my life's work till now."

Gov't Mule - The Georiga Bootleg Box (6 CDs) - "Those of you that have followed the Mule's history know that our connection with the state of Georgia is a deep one. Our first rehearsals were at the one-time living quarters of the Allman Brothers Band known as The Big House (now the ABB museum) in Macon, GA. Some later rehearsals took place at what used to be the legendary Capricorn Recording Studio in Macon while recording the song GONNA SEND YOU BACK TO GEORGIA for the HOUND DOG TAYLOR Tribute CD. A lot of our earliest shows were in Georgia as well so a lot of our growth as a band took place in front of Georgia audiences. Having recently been reminded of these 3 shows from '96, and of the fact that they had been recorded and mixed by Doug Oade back in the day, I found myself listening to these recordings for the first time in fifteen years. I was instantly taken with the visceral nature of the music along with the rawness of the way that it was captured. The Mule was barely two years old at this time and what we hear here, along with many songs from our first CD, are the works in progress of many songs that would later wind up on DOSE and in some cases LIFE BEFORE INSANITY. This was at a time in our career when our repertoire was small but constantly growing, not unlike our fan base."

Trey Anastasio - Traveler CD - Traveler, Trey's newest studio album, was co-produced with Peter Katis (The National, Interpol, Jonsi) at Tarquin Studios in Bridgeport, CT. Musicians include Trey Anastasio Band, Mates of State s Kori Gardner, The National s Bryan Devendorf and Matt Berninger, Bon Iver's Rob Moose, and Icelandic percussionist Samuli Kosminen.

Infamous Stringdusters - Silver Sky/We'll Do it Live (2 CDs) - Silver Sky - the recent studio recording in The Infamous Stringdusters' constant, relentless, revelatory musical evolution -- is released in Fall 2012 in a very special Silver Sky-Deluxe Edition. Delivered by SCI Fidelity and the band's own High Country label, Silver Sky-Deluxe Edition includes a previously unreleased bonus track, "He's Gone," and the bonus live album, We'll Do It Live.

Widespread Panic - Wood CD - In January and February 2012, Widespread Panic embarked their final performances of 2012 with the 11-date, four-city "Wood Tour". The acoustic tour ran through the Washington, DC area, Atlanta, GA, Denver, CO and ended with three special nights at the Belly-Up Tavern in Aspen, CO. Since then Panic has been on a long-overdue hiatus for the rest of 2012.

Widespread Panic fans are sure to be pleased with the announcement of WOOD. The set features acoustic versions, and some new arrangements of Panic originals, including "Tall Boy", "Ain't Life Grand" and "Climb To Safety". Covers of fan favorites, such as Jimmy Cliff's "Many Rivers To Cross" and Sonny Boy Williamson's "Good Morning Little Schoolgirl" are stand out highlights. Wood also features first time renditions of John Lennon's "The Ballad of John and Yoko" and former Animal Alan Price's "Sell Sell" from the legendary British film O' Lucky Man.

Hackensaw Boys - The Old Sound of Music Vol 2 CD - The group's latest efforts, The Old Sound of Music, Vol. 1 and The Old Sound of Music, Vol. 2, deliver original material that draws upon the songwriting talents of its members. These six-song collections are the result of recording sessions held at the decaying but comfortable Sound of Music studios on Broad Street in Richmond, VA before it moved to its new location. The recordings were mastered by Grammy award winner Charlie Pilzer at Airshow Mastering in Takoma Park, MD.

The Lee Boys - Testify CD - This family group consists of three brothers, Alvin Lee (guitar), Derrick Lee and Keith Lee (vocals) along with their three nephews, Roosevelt Collier (pedal steel guitar), Alvin Cordy Jr. (7-string bass) and Earl Walker (drums). "Sacred steel" is a type of music rooted in Gospel, but infused with rhythm and blues, jazz, rock, funk, hip-hop, country and African music driven by the pedal steel guitar. The Rock Collection - Live at the Oregon Country Fair CD -The Rock Collection is a brand new all-star group that features Mark Karan, electric guitar (RatDog), Dan "Lebo" Lebowitz, acoustic guitar and pedal steel (ALO), Greg Anton on drums (Zero), and Paul Lamb on bass (Burnt Noodle). They headlined the fair on the main stage in 2011 and this high fidelity live recording captured the magic. These accomplished live performers have an outstanding musical chemistry on stage, interweaving vocal harmonies, double guitar work and extended improvisation; their original songs include new Robert Hunter lyrics. Medeski Martin & Wood - Free Magic CD - For its latest effort, MMW dip into their archives to present a collection of recordings documenting their first-ever acoustic tour in 2007. The set, stretching out over five expansive tracks, captures the three intrepid improvisers--keyboardist John Medeski, bassist Chris Wood and drummer Billy Martin--exploring the telepathic hookup and deep groove sensibility that has defined MMW since its inception in 1991.

"There's a rhythmic and sonic connection that we have," says Martin of his MMW colleagues. "Listening is the most important thing for us. We're having a conversation when we're playing. The dynamic range is much greater in the acoustic setting. When we play electric, everything is turned up to 11 and it's screaming. But with John on piano and Chris on upright, we can play with a much more nuanced touch. It's a very different world, but I love it."

My Morning Jacket - Circuital CD - "The new record, Circuital, is named after the title song," explains Jim James, of My Morning Jacket's sixth studio album. "On that song I sing about ending up in the same place where you started out. And that makes a lot of sense for this album... I hate the phrase 'going back to our roots', but for this record we came home and made it in Kentucky. And it just felt a lot like it did when we were first starting out..."

Circuital was recorded in Louisville, KY and Nashville, TN, and was co-produced by frontman Jim James and Tucker Martine (R.E.M., Sufjan Stevens, The Decemberists). The result is yet another reinvention of their sound that both forges new ground and maintains the distinct spirit of MMJ s previous work.

Carolina Chocolate Drops - Heritage CD - Armed with banjos, fiddles, guitars, jugs, kazoos, spoons and various other percussive "instruments," in this album, the Carolina Chocolate Drops revisit the jug-band and Black string-band music of the '20s and '30s with the zest of the most energetic hip-hoppers and the acumen of old-time music pioneers. Although they remain faithful to the tradition, they have an atypical way of articulating their own artistic feelings.

Tedeschi Trucks Band - Revelator CD - Recorded in Derek and Susan's own Swamp Raga Studios in Jacksonville, co-produced by Derek with producer/engineer Jim Scott (Johnny Cash, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Wilco), Revelator is a confident yet unforced triumph offering a cohesive vision: an idyllic, musical world in which the echoes of so many great traditions -- Delta blues and Memphis soul, Sixties rock and Seventies funk -- flow together naturally, blending with an entirely original, modern sensibility.

"This album is an evolution of what we've all been doing before," says Trucks. "With this album, everything's been thought out a little deeper, figuring out the music and what the tunes mean--more time given to the whole process."

"These songs are all life-adventure stuff," adds Tedeschi, who co-wrote most of the album with her husband. Originally released in 2003, went out of print a few years later. But we were able to score a stash for cheap and you can pick one up for just $6 while suppies last!

Bela Fleck & the Flecktones - Rocket Science CD - Groundbreaking banjoist/composer/bandleader Bela Fleck has reconvened the original Bela Fleck & The Flecktones, the extraordinary initial line-up of his incredible combo. Rocket Science marks the first recording by the first fab four Flecktones in almost two decades, with pianist/harmonica player Howard Levy back in the fold alongside Fleck, bassist Victor Wooten, and percussionist/ Drumitarist Roy 'Futureman' Wooten. Far from being a wistful trip back in time, the album sees the Grammy Award-winning quartet creating some of the most forward thinking music of their long, storied career.

Warren Haynes - Man in Motion CD - Warren Haynes continues to be one of the most lauded straight-ahead rock lead guitarists performing today. But with his latest album his superior vocals are also at the forefront. Haynes' bold and emotive delivery, shimmering with his smoky vibrato is not to be missed. The album features Ivan Neville on organ and background vocals, Ian McLagan on piano, Ruthie Foster on background vocals, George Porter Jr. on bass and Ron Holloway on saxophone. The album was recorded live in studio to capture all of the emotion, passion and spontaneity at Willie Nelson's Pedernales Studios on two-inch tape with vintage tube microphones. Beyond his solo work, Warren Haynes is also known as the front-man for GOV'T MULE and vocalist and guitarist for THE ALLMAN BROTHERS and THE DEAD.

Phish - Live in Utica (2 DVD/2CD) - The Utica box set features the complete October 20, 2010 performance on 2 DVDs and 2 CDs. The box set presents three hours of crucial Phish in an intimate venue with an inspired audience that returned the energy at every turn.

The nearly three hours of music on the Utica box set was recorded with 60 channels of digital multi-track and beautifully mixed and mastered, appearing on the DVD's in 5.1 Dolby surround and full-resolution, uncompressed PCM stereo. The video was shot with 8 cameras (16:9 widescreen), recorded and post-edited in High Definition. Combining a stellar performance with gorgeous improvisation and a healthy sense of adventure, Utica makes it clear that the band is back and playing for keeps.

Venice Gas House Trolley - Burst Open CD - Cerebral Groovalicious Existential Sacred Fusion Rock from Venice Gas House Trolley featuring electric guitar and percussion! A morning-gold explosion of multi-colored sparks!

This full length (over 54 minutes of music) CD is VGHT's most fully realized, funky, jammin' and agressively rockin' album to date. Tracks range from the Flowpoetry inspired title track Burst Open (Dance) to the political heaviness of Bomb Drop and Busted And Wasted to the roots reggae rubba dub of Layin' Low. Add in some skanky blues, psychedelic rock and roll, and some of VHGT's unique take on the Amerian West and you have an album that will move your body and your mind. Levon Helm - Ramble at the Ryman CD or DVD - On September 17, 2008, the legendary Levon Helm took his beloved Midnight Ramble on the road to one of America's treasured music venues, Nashville's historic Ryman Auditorium. Accompanied by such stellar players like Buddy Miller, John Hiatt, Sheryl Crow, George Receli, Sam Bush and Billy Bob Thornton, the Levon Helm Band created an unforgettable night of stage magic.

The collections features the Levon Helm Band in a musical tour through the American songbook, performing classics from Helm's time with The Band, as well as song's from his Grammy winning release Dirt Farmer and tunes from other artists such as Chuck Berry, the Carter Family and more.

Trey Anastasio Band - TAB at the TAB CD - The septet that comprises the latest fiery incarnation of Trey Anastasio Band mixes the new and the old in both band members and repertoire. Original TAB members Russ Lawton (drums), Tony Markellis (bass) and Ray Paczkowski (keys) are joined by horn section Jennifer Hartswick (trumpet and vocals), Russell Remington (tenor saxophone and flute), and newcomer Natalie Cressman (trombone and vocals). Recorded live at the legendary Tabernacle in Atlanta, GA, this set runs through such classics as a ripping 'Sand' and a sweetly sung 'Drifting' and pairs them with new TAB compositions including 'Show of Life' (co-written with Steve 'Dude of Life' Pollack) and a horn laden arrangement of Phish's 'Alaska'. TAB at the Tab ends on a high note with Jennifer Hartwick's killer trumpet chops on a raucous cover of Zeppelin's 'Black Dog.'

Grateful Dead - The Warner Bros. Studio Albums (5lp vinyl boxset) - Deluxe Box Set Features Five Warner Bros. Records Studio Albums. On 180-Gram Vinyl With Lacquers Cut From The Original Analog Masters. Between 1967 and 1970, the Grateful Dead recorded five studio albums for Warner Bros. Records that formed the psychedelic canon on which the band's live legend was built. The albums spotlighted the early core lineup of Jerry Garcia, Ron 'Pigpen' McKernan, Bob Weir, Phil Lesh, Bill Kreutzmann, and Mickey Hart.

Grateful Dead and Rhino will celebrate the 40th Anniversary of 'Workingman's Dead' and 'American Beauty' with 'THE WARNER BROS. STUDIO ALBUMS,' a five-LP boxed set. The collection contains 'The Grateful Dead' (1967), 'Workingman's Dead,' and 'American Beauty' (1970), plus the original mixes for 'Anthem Of The Sun' (1968) and 'Aoxomoxoa' (1969), available on vinyl for the first time in nearly 40 years.

The set offers detailed replicas of the original albums housed in a hard-shell case that protects and stores the music with the accompanying 12in x 12in book including unpublished photos and new liner notes by Blair Jackson. To ensure the highest degree of quality, the albums were pressed on 180-gram vinyl at RTI using lacquers cut from the original analog masters by Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman Mastering.

The original mixes for 'Anthem of the Sun' and 'Aoxomoxoa' featured here for the first time since they were released went out of circulation in 1972 and 1971 respectively. Garcia and Lesh revisited 'Aoxomoxoa' two years after its release in an effort to cut through the dense mix, which was a result of the band's extensive experimenting in the studio with one of the first 16-track recorders. The overhaul changed the album's sound significantly, including the end of 'Doin' That Rag,' which originally closed with an a cappella vocal coda that was later removed.

Zac Brown Band - You Get What You Give CD or Deluxe CD - Deluxe edition contains 2 bonus tracks and special embossed packaging. 'You Get What You Give' features a genre-defying collection of songs that the band has been testing on the road over the past year.
Praised for the ability to blend 'down-home country with bits of reggae, bluegrass and rock to create a high-quality musical stew' (USA Today), front man Zac Brown notes that the new album 'is representative of where we are right now. It combines elements of our southern rock and country roots, but also stays true to our jam-band style musicianship from the live show.'

The Giving Tree Band - The Joke, The Threat, The Obvious CD - If you ask Todd and Eric Fink of The Giving Tree Band how much time they spend making music, your voice will not be heard above the din of their banjo and guitar, respectively. For the Brothers Fink, there is no distinction between playing music and just plain living. No two days are ever the same, as every new moment is their most creative. Their bodies and instruments become a singularity that is just trying to get in tune, stay in tune, and add a little harmony to the grand symphony of life.

Johnny Winter - Beginnings 1960-67 (2 CD) - These are the earliest recordings of blues guitarist Johnny Winter recorded in the '60s before he was signed by Columbia in 1968. These sides were recorded between 1960 and 1967 for the Dart, KCRO, Frolic, Todd, Hall-Way, and Pacemaker labels -- in other words, virtually his entire recorded output prior to his Progressive Blues Experiment long-player in 1967. The music here is raw electric blues, R&B, and even a few early rock tunes thrown into the mix. The cover of Johnny "Guitar" Watson's "Broke and Lonely" is a highlight, as is the burning instrumental cover of Chuck Berry's "Reelin' and Rockin." "Ease My Pain" is a primitive but fantastic model for what was to come in the late '60s on Columbia. A few tunes, such as "Eternally" and "You'll Be the Death of Me," were originally issued by Frolic, but picked up by Atlantic for national distribution. "Gone for Bad" and "I Had to Cry" were issued on MGM. Neither single charted; Winter was dropped. These tunes are a fine document, a lost highway to the past. Given the role Winter played in the electric blues and its mass acceptance in America, these tunes serve not as some inferior or embarrassing document, but the thing itself, raw and undiluted. Most of the material is comprised of doo wop, R&B, and twist instrumentals, all gritty enough not to be relegated as generic after the first listen.

Hymn For Her - Lucy & Wayne and the AmAIRican Stream CD - Lucy Tight & Wayne Waxing are "Hymn For Her", a band that hails from anywhere they can park their trailer. H4H live, tour and record in their 16 foot, 1961 Bambi Airstream (comes with dog and baby). Their new summer release 2010, 'Lucy & Wayne and THE AMAIRICAN STREAM' was entirely recorded in their classic trailer on a coast to coast U.S tour. They stopped at various campgrounds and friends' driveways between shows, set up their gear in their Bambi/home recording studio, rolled tape and rocked out. Many photographs and videos were taken during this endeavour. (Music videos will be released throughout 2010.) The album was mixed by Jim Diamond (who did the first White Stripes record) and captures the live, raucous sounds of H4H. Armed with 2 bullet mics, a three-stringed broom handle/cigar box, banjo, dobro, bass drum, hi-hat, and harp, this 'lil duo causes massive earthquakes wherever they play. The Blind Boys of Alabama - Live in New Orleans DVD - In the spring of 2008 the Blind Boys of Alabama headed to New Orleans to play a sold-out show at the iconic Crescent City club Tipitina's. The city, of course, was the focus of the band's latest CD, Down in New Orleans, and on that very special night the Blind Boys invited some of their favorite musicians to play with them: Dr. John, Susan Tedeschi, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Henry Butler, and Marva Wright.

The set list contained new and old favorites - selections from Down in New Orleans like "Free at Last" and "Down by the Riverside," as well as songs from the Blind Boys' four Grammy Award-winning albums, including the timeless "Amazing Grace" and "People Get Ready."  The packed crowd went wild, and an unforgettable and historic show was preserved for posterity in this one-of-a-kind DVD.

This disc presents the full concert performance of 16 songs along with memorable bonus material: the full-length TV show The Making of Down in New Orleans, which first aired on BET and the "Free at Last" music video, also filmed in New Orleans. $19.99

Bloodkin - Baby, They Told Us We Would Rise Again CD - This collection of songs is a stripped down rock & roll record that harkens back to the days where songs were recorded in a single take and relied on the raw energy of 5 guys playing together in a room.

JJ Cale - Roll On CD - Roll On follows Cale's Grammy-winning, gold-certified 2006 album with Eric Clapton, The Road to Escondido. The title track features a previously unreleased collaboration with Clapton. Cale wrote and produced all twelve songs on Roll On. Cale has brought us many classic songs over the years including: After Midnight, Call Me the Breeze, Travelin' Light and Cocaine.$16.98

Quicksilver Messenger Service - Live at the Fillmore Auditorium, San Francisco, 1967 CD - This recording while being a single disc contains many highlights including superb versions of You Don't Love Me and A Fool For You.

While not radically different from the set of the 4th of February although shorter the set does include Gold and Silver, Walkin' Blues, I Hear You Knocking and All Night Worker and shows the band were flexible and able to put together a set that highlighted their musical dexterity and also their choice of material although the performances are different. $18.98

20 Years of Weird: Flaming Lips 1986-2006 CD - It is a predominantly live compilation, recorded throughout the career of the Flaming Lips (between 1986 and 2003), though the first three tracks are recorded in the studio. These are: the introduction by Wayne Coyne, "Free Radicals" from At War with the Mystics and "Enthusiasm for Life Defeats Existential Fear", a previously unavailable track.

Some notable tracks contained on this compilation are "Shine on Sweet Jesus", a track recorded live with a short lived line-up which included Jonathan Donahue (of Mercury Rev), and current Flaming Lips producer Dave Fridmann, also of Mercury Rev. There is also a cover of Led Zeppelin's "Whole Lotta Love" (sung with the lyrics "Whole Lotta Satan"), which is played before "Cant Stop the Spring". The track "Sleeping on the Roof" is a live recording from the Flaming Lips' "Parking Lot Experiments" in 1996, where the band got some of their fans to play pre-recorded tapes (of music by the band) in their car stereos simultaneously. $6.99

Trey Anatasio - Orignal Boardwalk Style (Live in Atlantic City) CD - Recorded live December 30-31, 2006, at The House Of Blues, Atlantic City, NJ

Trey Anastasio - 18 Steps CD - 18 Steps began as the accompanying bonus mini-album to Trey Anastasio's Bar 17 release, consisting of the cutting room floor material that never made it onto Bar 17. Originally bundled free to every customer who ordered Bar 17, what began as a simple bonus CD of outtake material soon became regarded by many fans as a complete record in its own right. In response, 18 Steps is now available as its own record, previously available only through Trey's online store via his own Rubber Jungle Records. Featuring studio versions of fan-favorite live material such as "Dark And Down" and "Low," 18 Steps also boasts unique acoustic snippets never before released or played live such as "In Spirals," "Agnes" and "Rose Alone." In hindsight, 18 Steps is more than just extra material from the Bar 17 sessions, it completes the picture that Bar 17 started. In fact, Shine completes the trilogy as much of the material from all three albums was written during the same time period. For a complete view of Trey's mindset and musical career from 2004-2006, all three albums must be taken into consideration. $14.00

Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit CD - Isbell is a former member of the Drive-By Truckers and this is his second solo release (his first release with his band The 400 Unit). The album was recorded at the renowned FAME Studios in Muscle Shoals, AL. Isbell, who Details Magazine calls "one of America's best young songwriters," is following in the tradition of American songwriters who have recorded in North Alabama. Much like Arthur Alexander, Eddie Hinton and Spooner Oldham, Isbell mixes a soulful vocal style with songs that are passionate and unrepentant in their sense of place and direct in their stubborn Southerness. $15.98

Josh Phillips Folk Festival - Wicker CD - Josh Phillips began writing music when he received a Tascam 8-track recorder as a high school graduation gift. Though writing music, Josh never joined a band in seriousness until he met Yo Mama's Big Fat Booty Band in 2002. Joining the band as a percussionist, Josh soon started playing guitar as well and quickly became one of the band's main songwriters. He's been playing and touring heavily for the last 4 years with Yo Mama's Big Fat Booty Band, and Josh recently began a solo career as well, to get back to his roots and harness a more simple sound that highlights a song and its lyrics.
