Recorded in Jamaica, this album brings out the purest power of Spearhead! Check out a review here! The 2-LP set features a bonus track not on the CD release plus a free download of the album, and the Deluxe Edition includes the CD and a DVD of videos and more. CD $16.99; LP $19.99; CD Deluxe Edition $19.99
Garaj Mahal - w00t CD - With their first release since 2005, Garaj Mahal returns to the jazz-jam-funk-fusion fray with their most well-constructed album yet. Even though the quartet moves in the direction of complex jazz compositions, there's still plenty of combustible fusion workouts and fluid funk on w00t, and both sides of the band are represented in equal measure! $15.99
Josh Phillips Folk Festival - Wicker CD - Josh Phillips began writing music when he received a Tascam 8-track recorder as a high school graduation gift. Though writing music, Josh never joined a band in seriousness until he met Yo Mama's Big Fat Booty Band in 2002. Joining the band as a percussionist, Josh soon started playing guitar as well and quickly became one of the band's main songwriters. He's been playing and touring heavily for the last 4 years with Yo Mama's Big Fat Booty Band, and Josh recently began a solo career as well, to get back to his roots and harness a more simple sound that highlights a song and its lyrics. Wicker is his first album, and it was recorded with a collective of local Asheville musicians known as the Folk Festival and also with appearances by the Asheville Horns, Toubab Krewe's Justin Perkins, Acoustic Syndicate's Bryon McMurry, Andy John, Andrew Wakefield, and Woody Wood. $12.00
Gongzilla - Five Even CD - Although still a new name in the "jam scene", Gongzilla has been creating inspired, mind-bending progressive rock and jazz fusion for the last quarter century. Five Even, the latest studio record, introduces a new vocal and lyrical direction for what was an instrumental band since its inception, following the demise of the Euro-phenomenon Gong. Five Even includes guest appearances from guitarists Chuck Garvey (moe.) and Jake Cinninger (Umphrey's McGee), fretless guitarist *David "Fuze" Fiucszynski (Me'shell N'degeocello, Screaming Headless Torsos) and bassist Kai Eckhardt (John McLaughlin, Garaj Mahal). $12.00
Mitch Hedberg - Do You Believe in Gosh? CD - Recorded two months prior to his death, this album contains nearly forty minutes of previously unreleased stand-up material. It pulses with Mitch's inimitable wit and spirit as a document of a comedy master, and it's a treat for all those who were afraid they'd never get to hear another great Hedberg joke. The CD captures most of the material Mitch was working on for what would have been his next full-length album, in a free-form show with a large amount of audience interaction. Listeners can expect the same bizarre one-liners they have come to love, like "Is a hippopotamus a hippopotamus or just a really cool apoatmus?" delivered in the drawly, good-natured way only Hedberg could pull off. Mitch gives his unique point of view on such topics as the headless horseman, Medusa, whom he refers to as the "snake-haired bitch" and squirrels on water skis. Also included in the CD package is a booklet including never-before-seen photos and excerpts from Mitch's private journals. $13.99
