Keller Williams

Langerado 2008

I have to admit, I was pretty eager to head down to Langerado this year. Yes, the fact that it was at Big Cypress was appealing, as I had heard from all my phishy phriends that the place was beautiful, but I was just excited that I was going to be able to see music late at night this year.
langerado____0I have loved Langerado every year I've gone: It's 80 degrees. It's early in the year. The lineup is always stellar. But then the music was over at 11 pm? Lame.

Keller Williams

Often compared with such artists as Michael Hedges and Leo Kottke, Keller stands out for his unique approach to folk music and for his undeniable rhythmic mystique.

This singer/songwriter's playful combination of all musical genres blend with clever lyrics to ignite imagination, inspiration and smiles. Respected and appreciated for his musical creativity, such techniques as "mouth fluegel" and "guitar beats" contribute to his signature sound. Keller consistently exploits the freedom of music and the result is marvelous.

"Imagine an acoustic 10-string guitar player who is a cross between Leo Kottke and Michael Hedges, with significant doses of Grateful Dead, jazz, groove and reggae thrown into the mix. Add sweet tenor vocals, some excellent original songs, well chosen covers, and the occassional effects loops to layer things up a bit. Then add tribal roots via the djembe, the patented "mouth flugel" horn sounds...Clearly we can only be talking about Keller Williams." - Timothy Lynch

New Additions to the Catalog:

Jam Cam Chronicles - Wanee 2007 DVD - As rock-blues legends The Allman Brothers Band wowed more than 10,000 guests over two consecutive nights and invited both family (Devon Allman's Honeytribe, Vaylor Trucks' Bonobos Convergence) and friends (The Radiators, Keller Williams, and more) to do the same, the JamCam crew captured it all for a nearly 3-hour look at this 3rd annual celebration of blues, roots and jam. Performances include The Allman Brothers Band, Keller Williams, Oteil & The Peacemakers, Scrapomatic, Rusted Root, The Radiators, and more. An in-depth look at the Allman-inspired Hittin' the Note Magazine, interviews with ABB offspring, and a Suwannee River-full of festival "sites and sounds" round out this latest offering from the JamCam catalog. $17.00

The New Mastersounds - Re:Mixed CD - The New Mastersounds certainly don't need any introduction. As the UK's top contemporary deep funk band, they already have 5 full-length albums and 21 seven-inch single releases under their belt and have been invited to play everywhere from the US to Japan. The crazy idea that Record Kicks had was to ask a bunch of talented contemporary funk, nu jazz and broken soul remixers to work on NMS's "raw" deep funk sound. The result is an absolutely essential compilation full of irresistible nu funk, soul, broken, and headz future classics. The disc features a wide range of producers, from the award-winning Nostalgia 77 together with the fabulous Corinne Bailey Rae, to "King" Kenny Dope, Lack Of Afro, and Dielser, not to mention Lanu aka Lance Ferguson from the The Bamboos, Ju Ju Orchestra, mighty Smoove from Acid Jazz Records, nu afrobeat phenomenon AIFF, and many more. This is a unique experience - 12 club stormers to hit the floor, and proper DJs and funk & soul lovers will need to take stock of it. Imported. $19.99

Keller Williams - 12 CD - Keller's twelfth album release looks back at his remarkable, ground-breaking career. Aptly titled 12, the disc features one standout song from his previous 11 releases plus one new, previously unrecorded song. Keller himself has dubbed this his album of "hitless greatest hits." 12 is a fantastic celebration of a career that, while nowhere near the end, has provided many a musical milestone. $13.99

Dave Matthews Band - Live at Piedmont Park (2 DVDs) - Live at Piedmont Park took place on September 8, 2007 in front of 50,000+ fans at the Meadow of Piedmont Park in Atlanta, Georgia. Live at Piedmont Park is the first full Dave Matthews Band concert release on DVD since the 2003 release of the monumental Central Park Concert, and this new offering is equally as impressive. It has been remixed and recut since the Peachtree TV broadcast, and was recorded in stereo and 5.1 audio to and shot in High Definition video to provide viewers and listeners with the ultimate sound and video quality. Several songs make their DVD debut here, including "The Dreaming Tree" and new songs "#27," "Cornbread" and "Eh-Hee." Additional highlights include guest appearances from Warren Haynes and Gregg Allman. $21.98

Ghostland Observatory - Live From Austin, TX DVD - Uncompromising, audacious, frantic...transformative. Experience the inferno of this band's live shows and you'll start to get it. It's tough to believe just two dudes create this monstrosity of sound! They are two small-town Texas dudes with very distinct personalities - producer/drummer Thomas Turner, heavily influenced by electronic artists from Daft Punk to Green Velvet and rockers like The Clash, and front man Aaron Behrens, whose charisma inspires comparisons to Freddie Mercury and Prince. As their MySpace page describes it, Ghostland Observatory is not a band but an agreement between two friends to create something that not only heals their beat-driven hearts, but pleases their rock n roll souls. That certain something also drives audiences wild as Behrens sings and struts to frantic garage riffs and thumping dance-punk beats. This is their national television debut, recorded July 10, 2007. $16.99

Will Hoge - Draw the Curtains CD - Decades ago, before the first rock and roll idols turned music into a product, musicians played music the way cobblers mended shoes and carpenters built homes. Welcome to the world of Will Hoge. Draw The Curtains, Hoge's first album in two years, is a tour de force of authenticity, covering sounds from country and roots to rock, soul, and R&B. It's music the way it was meant to be played, with a rock-is-my-life, let's-hit-the-road attitude. Hoge's music is the unwavering sound of a born rocker. He filters rock, soul, folk, blues and country through a prism of emotional authenticity and what emerges is undeniable. $16.98

Frank Zappa - Halloween DTS DVD-Audio - A legendary compilation of tunes from 3 1978 shows in New York City. You can bet the freaks were out for this one, and the Zappa band put on a heart-stopping performance full of insanity! DVD Audio disc includes DTS 5.1 Surround mix, DVD-A 5.1 surround mix, and PCM Stereo mix, mastered from the original 24-track tapes. $16.99

Keller Williams to release new CD in December

kw12.jpg
Keller Williams has been called guitar’s mad-scientist, a one-man band for the new millennium, and dozens of other clever sobriquets dreamed up by fans and music journalists trying to get a handle on his uplifting and ever-shifting style of music. Though Keller’s music has evolved since he first started playing music over twenty years ago, some things have remained constant: Keller is a prolific artist, an exceptional guitarist, and an accomplished songwriter.

All Good 11 - July 12-15, 2007

AG800x200.jpg
Driving onto Marvin's Mountaintop for the first time, I was overwhelmed at the beauty of the place. Now I'd heard plenty of tale about this legendary site, but couldn't have prepared myself for the natural wonder that awaited me and thousands of other music lovers and good-doers this eleventh annual holiday of jam, the much anticipated All Good Music Festival & Campout.
